Rendering Lard

We just butchered 3 pigs. We had some helpers who rendered the lard from the scraped hide by cutting it into chunks and rendering in a huge vat. They were after the chicharro�es. Does anyone know if the lard can be remelted and strained again for a purer lard? I still have quite a bit of fat to render and am thinking of doing it in the crockpot. Has anyone rendered? And, if so, how did you do it?
