Can you help me find a recipe, please?

Back in 1974-75 there used to be a recipe for a tuna-noodle dish on the back of the Pennsylvania Dutch Egg Noodle bags. The one on there now isn't the same, it has cheddar cheese soup in it. Thanks so much.

Here it is!

Tuna Noodle
4 oz noodles cooked as directed
1/4 C. Crisco/butter or oil
1/3 c chopped onion
2 Tbsp chopped green pepper
Cook until tender

Add:
one 10 1/2 oz can Cheddar cheese soup
1/2 soup can of milk
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
Bring to boil
Add:
One can tuna
Put noodles in 2 qt casserole, add mixture, stir.
Sprinkle with crushed crackers

Bake at 350* about 25 - 30 min

Its use is comparable to an open kettle canning, or filling the jars and capping, then flipping them over to seal. Worst yet. if it is used, it would usually require a pressure canning, and by that time its not a jello anymore. You must realize that many of those old 'hand-me-down' recipes, Amish, and how your grandma did things aren't valid today when it comes to canning saftey. I 'push the envelope' with a steam canner and a no heat vacuum process, but these are ONLY for items that are made with full strength 5% vinegar with no water added, and no other odd additives beyond pickling salt. If you were to look at a latest recipe from a Ball Blue Book, I seriously doubt it would mention using gelatin in any of the canning recipes. Quite frankly, I have only seen the mention of gelatin here in the Harvest Forum and have always posted a warning as its not a safe thing to do, even if used in high fruit acid jams. For Rhubarb, even though there is much less oxalic acid in the stems than the leaves, it can add to the complexity of the end product, and can affect its shelf life. Protien and bacteria seem to like each other.. Ever see the stuff they grow germs in? As an option a small amount of the Clear Jel starch will give a more consistant result as well as being much safer to can. You don't need to thicken to a paste, just a small amount is needed to give things a syrup consistency, or what you prefer, and adding lots would give you stiff rubbery jelly.

Note that the leavening is baking soda...and as of NOW the directions in also say soda instead of powder as in the first I posted....and now I will correct it on my copy too!!! Carrot cake Julie Ts 3 eggs 3/4 cup vegetable oil 3/4 cup buttermilk 2 cups sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla 2 cups flour 2 teaspoons baking soda 3/4 teaspoon salt 2 tsps cinnamon 1 8 oz can crushed pineapple, drained 2 cups grated carrots 1/2 cup raisins chopped with 1 Tablespoon of flour Buttermilk glaze 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 tsp baking soda 1/4 cup buttermilk 1/4 cup butter 1 Tblsp light corn syrup 1 tsp vanilla Orange Cream Cheese Frosting 1/2 cup softened butter 4 oz softened cream cheese 1 tsp vanilla 3 cups powdered sugar 1 tsp orange juice 1 tsp grated orange rind Preheat oven to 350 With a mixer Beat eggs, add oil and buttermilk, sugar and vanilla. beat to combine. Stir together flour, salt, cinnamon and baking soda and stir into batter. stir in pineapple, carrots and raisins. Pour into a greased 8 by 13 pan or 2 greased round 9 inch cake pans. Bake 35 to 45 minutes until set in the middle. Remove from the oven and immediatly spread with the buttermilk glaze. Cool completely and frost with the cream cheese frosting. Buttermilk glaze: In a medium sauce pan ( don't use a small pan) combine all ingredients but vanilla. Bring to a boil and cook 3 minutes stirring often...it will bubble a lot. It should be a light caramel color, stir in vanilla and pour over the cake Cream cheese frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter until light add vanilla powd. sugar and juice and rind...beat until smooth and frost the cooled cake.

beekeeperswife, I'd recommend that you go to a high end tile store to "see" mounted tiles. You can bring a sample board back to your house to view it in your home with your cabinets/countertop. ( They sound like a gorgeous combination!) The backsplash could be any number of blends. While I think it is Veil, the squares look pretty tiny compared to mine. Oceanside has a smaller mosaic field called "Facets" = For some reason, I can't copy the page info. Go to the link below, then click on products/by collection/facets/blends and you can see "Veil" in half inch tile. I am fairly certain that it will be very pricey, quite a bit more than the Veil in the one inch tile. Other ideas: "Susan Jablon Mosaics" has "White Out!" in her "Ice is Nice" collection that it may be. http://www.susanjablonmosaics.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1205 Or, look at Hakatai "Cloud White Irridescent" http://www.hakatai.com/Cloud-White-Iridescent-P628C24.aspx I'm not sure if the reason for my choice of backsplash will help you. We did it sort of backwards - I have purchased what I like that is high quality over long periods of time at a very low price - most of it works, however while I love the price, practicality and lay out of of my well built (albeit second hand) QuakerMaid cabinets we installed, I am now trying to convince my dh to let me paint them. And while I really love my butcher block countertops in most of my kitchen, I really want Danby Marble in my baking area. We are somewhat stalled at the moment, and hope to be able to continue in a few weeks. Life is rich. I wish that I could show you a picture of the backsplash installed. I can't even show you a picture of the fronts of the tiles, as they are paper faced. Sorry. I purchased the Oceanside Veil Glass Tile on Craigslist (leftover from a job). FYI, is usually about $35 a square foot for that one inch tile blend. I paid a lot less. (Some of their more complicated patterns run upwards of $65 a square foot - it wouldn't surprise me if the Facets run close to $50, as the tile is hand crafted - the smaller the tile, the more tile that needs to be handled per square foot = an increase in cost.) Neglected to add a picture of my (2) island pendants. Hudson Valley offers a smaller semi flush that's 10.75'' D. It comes in white & satin nickel or solid satin nickel. The old one didn't have cheedar cheese soup in it, so I guess thats not the one. Is there another one out there?

That is the only Tuna casserole I ever make. DH just loves it!
Quite a few years ago they changed the soup and I don't think it was an improvement. You could also use the Nacho Cheese soup and skip the peppers and onions, for a spicer version.
I just made that dinner last week.

I LOVE this one! The kids even love it. DH hates it of course. I haven't made it for years now because of DH.

6oz egg noodles, cooked
1 can tuna
1/2 cup salad dressing (Miracle Whip)
1 cup celery
1/3 cup onion
1/4 cup green pepper (I don't use)
1/4 cup pimento (I don't use)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk
1 cup cheese (shredded cheddar)
1 can mushroom or celery soup (I use celery)
Mix all ingredients. Heat soup, melt cheese in soup. add to cooked noodles. Top with crushed potato chips. Bake at 425 for about 20 minutes.

2 (7 oz.) cans tuna, drained and flaked
2 envelopes Lipton Onion Soup Mix
1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas and carrots
1 (16 oz.) container Breakstone sour cream
1/4 c. flour
Slivered almonds

In large saucepan, bring water to a boil; add Pennsylvania Dutch Brand Egg Noodles, tuna, Lipton Onion Soup Mix, and peas and carrots. Bring to a boil, then simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally; 8 minutes. Stir in Breakstone Sour Cream blended with flour and heat through, but do not boil, top with almonds. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

I make a tuna loaf, which I just love and top it with yummy cheese sauce!

This is how I make mine,except for the pimientos and I don't always add peas.This is from the Campbells Soup site.

Tuna Noodle Casserole

1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell'sÂ® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup (Regular or 98% Fat Free)

1/2 cup milk

2 tablespoons chopped pimientos (optional)

1 cup frozen peas

2 cans (about 6 ounces each) tuna, drained

2 cups medium egg noodles, cooked and drained

2 tablespoons dry bread crumbs

1 tablespoon butter, melted

Stir the soup, milk, pimientos, peas, tuna and noodles in a 1 1/2-quart casserole. Stir the bread crumbs and butter in a small bowl.
Bake the tuna mixture at 400Â°F. for 20 minutes or until hot and bubbling. Stir the tuna mixture. Sprinkle with the bread crumb mixture.

Bake for 5 minutes or until the bread crumb mixture is golden brown.
