You'll remember, quite likely (and without shedding too many tears over the loss, no doubt) the pic that was with us so long of the meal for the day ... shrimp, wasn't it? ... at the right of the messages here.

No doubt you'll have noted the rearrangement of the pics over there, as well.

And have noted, no doubt, that those pictures show up in larger sized format after we've posted a message.

And the new shade of blue for the titles of posts it is a much lighter blue than it was before.

Hi, another "ignore the rugs" person chiming in. :-) But do as I say, not as I do. Even though theoretically I ignore rugs, I always lend half an eye and try to play along, at least when piling more than one rug into a room. They usually have to be a similar style...tribal + tribal, for example. And I do admit to buying an orange chair to go with an orange stripe in the last house. Call me a hypocrite! I think you should revisit the gray idea. And I think that the way to love gray is not only to find the right one, but to use either full spectrum paint (Ellen Kennon) or maybe Farrow & Ball. Now that you seem to be fully into the paint addiction thing (welcome!) I feel comfortable suggesting that. You talk about "glowy" and that is exactly what you get with one of these more complicated paints. If you could find a warm gray or a greige in a paint that has a lot of life in it, I bet you would really love it. If you don't have it, I suggest sending away for the F&B free color card. There are a couple dozen really interesting neutrals that might be fun to explore. Yes, these boutique paints are not cheap, but if you're willing to spend the $$$ to change the rugs/furniture, fancy paint will feel like a bargain! I worry about using the deeper colors, particularly blue, on a thirty foot wall. That scares me a bit, but I don't know the space. In that regard, my guess is that a mid-tone would be better, but a mid-tone blue? I just don't know. I love the rugs and think the pink sofa is really refreshing. I'd hate to see the wall color take over, IYKWIM. How's that Georgian Green looking today?

We just moved into a brand new home, and being that it's our first place, we moved in w/ NOTHING! I had an 'idea' of what I wanted to do in the rooms since I had a bunch of time to think about it while it was being built, but no absolutes. Once we moved in, I did one room at a time pretty much. Since I had an idea of what I wanted to do in each room, if I found something that was just perfect for a room, i'd buy it, but I woudln't attempt to 'decorate' with it. Instead it would just sit in that room and wait until I was ready for it :) We finished the kitchen first, then the family room, and now I'm almost done the master bedroom. We've been in the house 2 months. I have purchased the furniture for the 'formal' living room, but haven't done much else in there. The only reason I have already bought it is because it was on sale BIG TIME at Macy's and I had been eying it for months. My mom on the other hand decorates all rooms at the same time. I think it discourages her though since she doesn't get to see the final result of anything for a long time. GOod luck decorating!

To everyone who has responded, thank you so much for your time and ideas. My dd loved your ideas and feed back. She has been trying to make a decision. She has been given a budget so she is being very thorough. Paint chips, my dd loved your ideas. She is using your ideas as inspiration for her room. The blue-grey paint you selected is very close to what she selected previously. She selected Eddie Bauer Shale paint EB32-4 from Lowe's. We haven't tested it yet. I'm wanting to get the other fabrics first. Jenny, I loved the picture you posted! I loved the valance in that room. I have looked all over for something like that for dd's room. So far no luck. Jim, I also liked Ralph Lauren's room. So clean and timeless. jynxed23, I would love to see a picture of your room. I have to agree the rug is making this more difficult. I'm assuming it must be easier to decorate around a rug if the colors are more muted. I may be incorrect about that. Update on dd's room.... She found this duvet cover at pottery barn kids. She loves the chamois texture. The only problem is that they are sold out of matching shams and will not be restocking since they are closing out this line. Personally, I feel that she needs a matching sham in addition to the fun decorative pillows. DD thinks we can go to the fabric store and find some navy fabric and whip up a sham. Do you also feel this is a deal breaker? I'm thinking that the color and texture should be the same. Any input? Bedskirts...DD has looked for bedskirts. Of course they don't have any to match the above duvet cover. So she was thinking about a white bedskirt because we have been unable to find an off-white bedskirt in twin size. The rug has ivory but not white. Would white look bad? If I can convience her to go with the denim duvet cover that paint chips selected, all my problems would be solved. That set has a sham and bedskirt that matches.

you have a beautiful place, House Vixen! I had to look hard for that bedding..:) Was enchanted by the big picture.. actually I think it does have to do a lot with where one lives too..seasons and all everybody papered their windows to insulate them better when it became cold. the seams, you know? we had this special sticky paper..took half a day to get it done..actually wasn't sticky-you had to cook a special glue from flour or something first..I can tell you, life's much easier now. Linens got boiled in huge pans with starch..jam, you made..pickles, you salted..cottage cheese, you made from milk..and it's not like we lived in the countryside lol) it was very nice to get rid of this paper when spring came..open the windows..let the air fully in. so, insulating the windows...very tedious job. I guess while you're at that, you're already more than ok with doing something still practical yet much more pleasing..like changing curtains for heavier, and then changing them back again to breathier summer ones.. (guess who had to iron the curtains? yeah..my Grandma worked me hard..)) we had actually very few decor thingies..few paintings..I guess same way as my Mom saved her lunch money to buy books..my Grandma collected decor on the same principle..and didn't exactly reveal the prices..)) clearly the times and place weren't conductive to what she could have done, with her love for everything house..we didn't have decor books either..or magazines..yet she somehow managed. She also planted flowers on the balcony, every spring..the floors got waxed once a year(I remember myself sliding all over the house, with these brushes attached to my feet lol..I imagined it was an ice rink-made it more interesting..) I think she'd marvel at opportunities I have now...it was really hard to get things where we lived. Even if one had money. Most people didn't. We were like most people. True, we didn't pay for much more important things like doctors and schools. But then you could get lucky or not..We lived in a big city so we were mostly lucky..I guess. With schools especially. Same here though, to some extent..you also can get lucky or not..and it doesn't always depend on money of course I remember all the accents and pictures since they were so few Strangely, I don't remember any throw pillows. Interesting.. Plaids and throws, I do remember. Dishes for guests. Tea services. Silver sugar bowl. (I was entrusted to set the table when guest came. That, I loved. So exciting..the anticipation..and then running to the door when somebody rings..Pure happiness) But not throw pillows.. Maybe that's why I can't get enough of these now? It's very hard to restrain myself when it comes to throw pillows..:) Gosh, I can never stay at just decor..it always strays somewhere. I still filter though believe it or not. Lol. Or else would become a novel..:)

Have you also noticed that it's totally different when you go to the other forums? Click on Gardening, and it's laid out completely different.

The pictures on the right aren't really advertisements, which is why they show up with my AdBlock Plus.

They are part of GardenWeb, promoting their other forums.

It is quite different, when submitting a comment now, with all of the business on the page.

Doesn't anyone see the difference in the layout when you go to the top and click on the Garden Forums?

Jasdip, what kind of change? I looked at several forums on the garden side and home side and don't notice any changes. I also don't see anything Olympics related. I do see the pictures that are part of GW and the recent post list.
I noticed the much lighter blue color on post titles immediately. The background wallpaper behind the posts as the page is coming up has changed also to beautiful snow covered mountains. I see that more often when using my tablet due to it being slower loading pages than my desktop.
I use Firefox with ad block plus on everything including tablets.

Ahhh oh ok yes I do see the page you are showing the same as your's. I thought you meant the actual individual forums pages.

I also know why I don't see the Olympic people. I have my monitor set to fill the entire screen with the GW KT page so it is edge to edge all forum page no side edges with the people. If I reduce it to the size you have your forum page I see them there. I like to get use from full real estate of my monitor. Helps these old eyes. The snow covered mountain at the top I do see from time to time as the page loads. I love the no squint add on for firefox so I can control the size of my pages and text.

I use Firefox with adbloc plus and see a column on the right with Latest Threads, Expore GardenWeb pictures, and Events. I also see the Sochi advertisements.

Nope. No pics here....full screen view. I have them blocked.
No Olympic pics on Forum page either.

When you're using the full screen, you use the F11 function?

When I do that, it goes full screen but then takes away my tabs of the other pages that I have open. I usually have a few pages, tabs, sites open at once that I go back and forth with.

Just put your cursor to the top of the screen and your tabs will drop down so you can use them.

Jasdip try using the no squint add on for Firefox you won't have those problems. You can adjust everything with it. You don't use the F11.

I don't have those Olympics graphics on the garden side... and I am not on a full screen.
I just have blank columns on both sides.... same as here.

What I'm seeing is at the top where there is about 2 inches of pink background and this on the right:
