I am so glad you like the red! It is a wonderful red. It is hard to find just the right one isn't it? I think it has equal parts orange to blue which make it just red and a nice deep one at that.

Yes, you've definitely found the right one. I did the same thing for my DR and used the Tibetan red, which to me, looks like the Picnic Table. Way too burgandy. But that Bangkok Rust is right on! I'm so glad to know that because I too have oak cabinets. It is unreal how hard it is to find the right red. It may be spot-on on the paint chip, you slap it on the wall and it's hideous! I'm so glad your search is over! You did your homework girl!

First.....Creekylis, you are my hero. You really know how to test a color. So many think that a little swipe with the paint brush is going to answer their paint questions and they find themselves so much more confused. You saw the value in painting out your quart near the wood you wanted to accent and putting your stuff back on top of it so you can really look it over and evaluate. Good job! And you also honed in on the real answer to finding the right color for your own space. Magnaverde has made a good point in times past, about people asking for precise paint shades for their rooms when there's no real way that's going to work. (Telling someone else to try Bangkok Rust may not be helpful to them. BR may be way too orangey in their kitchen.) But on the other hand, we need a starting point. And I doubt very seriously if that man EVER stands in his own space wondering if he should try Red's Baby Turtle or ColorMeConfused's Olive Branch. He has a picture in his head of what he wants and he knows how to go about making it appear. But most of us want to be sent to the store for a particular color chip. We KNOW that we are going to pick the wrong shade, but someone else can nail it completely.
You eliminated the blue toned reds and realized that, with your lighting and cabinets, you were going to have to go 'rustier' 'more orange' than someone else, to get the right shade. Again........kudos to you.

It looks good. I hope to see a finished paint job posted here soon!

I did get a chuckle out of all of your NO's....

The other day, DH asked why I was painting sample boards instead of right on the wall. I told him this way I could move the posters around the room and see the colors in different lights w/o swatching up the room. I ended up swatching anyway!! LOL It was fun!

LOL... yep, I was DETERMINED to get it right. I knew for sure I didn't want to live with the wrong red just because it was taking a lot of time and energy (and cash) to find the right one. I also learned a lot in the process and might have an easier time next time.

Been living with that Bangkok Rust all day and still like it. I think we have a WINNER.

I love the name, Bangkok Rust (I'd love to visit Bangkok LOL) and I love the color. Perfect choice.

May have missed something, but who makes Bangkok Rust? I saw a reference to Waverly but don't know which line of paint has their colors. Looks great.

I so love your style! The colors are earthy, homey, and oh so elegant with just the right "pop" of color in the Bangkok Rust. Love it!

Please, I just have to know what type flooring you have. I'm trying to convince dh to do ceramic in the kitchen and not laminate. I like the large squares and the muted but mixed tone of the tiles.

And, totally off topic, what breed is your adorable dog?!

mdmomof7... thanks for the compliments! I hate to say, my flooring is nothing special. It is currently a very neutral vinyl (came with the house). I'm hoping to install hardwoods, but I'm waiting until I can afford to do most of my main floor. The vinyl drives me nuts, though, because it's the most visible room in the house.

My Bella is a golden retriever. The sweetest, most well-behaved pup in the world! Her only flaw is that she sheds a whole cat worth of hair on a daily basis! (BTW...Where did you see my dog?)
