I started watching again this year. Honestly, when Fantasia won that year, I quit watching. What a travesty that was. Anyhow.......I really like the line up of judges. Harry Connick does tell it like it is. I loved it when he said, you gotta lay off the runs, especially when you're bad at them. I got soooo sick of the "'screaming" that they called singing...and the runs....ugh, stick a fork in my eye. I would much prefer to hear a singer hit a big note at the end, and hold it. I think that's much harder than those extremely overused runs. I don't think Malaya should have made it through. I picked every single guy right. I think the tall girl, with the gap in her teeth should have made it over Malaya. Caleb is my fav guy to win. The girls, hmmmm, I like Jena and MK.

Isn't it funny how we all have such different opinions about the contestants? I think Syesha has a beautiful voice. Think that Simon (and probably the others) thinking that she has more of a Broadway type voice has hurt her in the competition. I liked Brooke but really didn't think that she was Idol material. Too amateurish (is that a word?). Jason needs to go HOME! He has beautiful eyes and that's about it. Saw one post on an American Idol web site and all it said was, "Jason must be as dumb as a brick!" LOL It struck me as funny. (Mean, I know.) He may be the most intelligent soul in the world, but he sure comes across as DUH! lol Hope David Cook wins. David Archuleta probably has a better voice but David C. is a whole lot more versatile entertainer. An "entertainer" is what they're looking for, I think.

I was tempted to start a new thread for this, but I'll just add it here, since it's sort of on topic. David Archiletta just totally blasted off the creep factor scale for me. Our local Fox station just aired an interview one reporter did with D. A. back in January. She kept asking him questions about the contest, then sequed into, "have you ever been to ____ (city she where she works), what do you know about (city)?" In EVERY case--this was totally odd for a 16 year old to do--he started talking about his FATHER. How wonderful dad was, how he was so lucky to have him helping him, working with him on his music, etc, etc, etc--even when that had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the question being asked. They played quite a long stretch of the interview--it wasn't one or 2 questions, and they hadn't spliced it together. It just kept getting more and more peculiar, listening to his off-topic, father-worshiping responses. Don't get me wrong--I think every child should have a good relationship with their father and Dad should be their #1 hero--but this went way beyond that. The reporter herself said she was getting creeped out, having to do the interview with him and trying to pull actual responses from him. In opposition to my opinion voiced in a previous post--the reporters on the show think this week's problems will push DA into the finals, because of all the publicity. We'll see, won't we? I still think, that this way, they can can him this week, and put out the 'excuse' that the bad publicity did him in--whether or not it really did. David C--who was never my favorite--is looking better and better. He's mature, he's extremely talented, he's respectful, and also has proven to be very creative with the choices he's made. He's definitely grown on me.

Nope, it can't be between Syesha and anybody. Poor girl has barely made it through for an entire month. I'm betting she's the next to go. Also think her breakdown Tuesday was reaction to the pressure, her lukewarm responses, and ridiculous judges' criticisms. She's probably wondering why people dislike her, being every bit as good a singer as anyone and better than some, yet always ending up on the chopping block. Most people aren't fair in their judgment of her. While they will say they don't like David C.'s style of music, they concede he is "good," "the best," and all that. But, dislike Syesha's style, and she simply is not good - awful and sickening, in fact. Lopsided and unfair, and I commend her heart and sinew. She gets up there smiling and singing her heart out every week. It has to be incredibly difficult. I hope David A. doesn't win. David C. is a much bigger talent. Between the two of them, I think it goes beyond singing and more so overall talent. That's David C. all the way. I cannot believe the magnitude of his talent.
