How strange-I was going to ask this SAME question today! Great minds think alike!

I believe you can put 1/2 regular hand soap, and 1/2 water into the pump container and it should work. Needs to be the pump container! I'm not sure about those measurements though-may be more water? The foam cleaner is VERY runny, liquidy.

Anyone else try it?

I think that is too much soap.

I bought the foaming dispenser from Pampered Chef. several years ago..it had a mark on the side for you to fill with soap...and a mark to fill on up with water.

I believe it was more like 1/3 soap and 2/3 water.

I sometimes buy the refills for the Dial foaming hand soap. DH loves that soap - nothing works as good on his greasy dirty farmer hands - not even Lava!

I sometimes re-do my Dawn one with a about 1/4 Dawn, then fill almost to the top with water.

My Pampered Chef one didn't last very long.

I refill mine - fill the bottle three-fourths full only - just a tablespoon of dish soap or shampoo and the rest with water. Don't go over 3/4 full or it won't work.

Pattico is right. Foam dispensers are all I use for both hands and dishwashing soaps.

The foam consistancy is diluted so the dispenser can pump it with air to make the foam. It is a mixture of 1 part of soap to 3-6 parts of water. (If unsure, start with 3 parts of water and work it up.) Shake it up to mix them well. You can use most any liquid soap of your choice for this mixture.

For dishwashing soap, I buy the regular Dawn liquid soap and do my 1 to 3 ratio mixture. For handsoap, I use Equate (Walmart brand) Milk & Honey and do the same with 1 to 3 ratio.

They lasts and lasts! It's a money saving.

Just buy the foaming soap at Wal-Mart and fill 'er up!

I've been refilling mine for over a year now and still works great. Just like everyone else, I dilute the liquid soap or I sometimes use whatever shower wash or dish soap I have on hand.

I've been refilling mine for a couple of YEARS. They actually take very little soap at each fill. What I actually prefer is to pour in about an inch of BABY SHAMPOO or BABY WASH and then s-l-o-w-l-y fill to almost full with water. You go slow so as not to cause sudsing. I prefer a mild soap in it so I can wash my face with it as well. I bought a FILLED one a couple of days ago at Target for my daughter's powder room and it was less than $2.00 so it doesn't make sense to buy JUST the container anywhere....By the way, the Pampered Chef one I had many years ago died before the foam soaps were even available on the market. I didn't realize it, but they would have replaced it. I prefer the shorter size of the non Pampered Chef ones though.

I really love the Dial foaming soap too. Nothing cleans as good as Dial. But most important is nothing gets a bad smell off your hands better then Dial. After changing many dirty diapers Dial was the only soap to get the doo doo scent off my hands. I always include a bottle of Dial in my gifts whenever i attend a baby shower.

I want to buy one for the big bathroom, bcs I think the undiluted liquid soap is coating my pipes. Plus, it just spreads the soap around better.

Oh this is great timing - I just emptied a foaming hand soap bottle and tried to refill it. But it didn't work. Now I know I need to really dilute it. Thanks again.

Talley Sue - When we first moved to our current home I happened to look out the front window one day and saw what looked like a softball sized lump of Crisco in my front yard. It had somehow managed to find it's way to the top of my sewer pipe vent. I called Roto Rooter and they snaked it all out. The Rooter guy told me that the previous owner must have drained cooking fat and oil down the sink. But he also told me that soaps and shampoos also can coat the pipes and cause clogs. So I try to be aware of what goes down the drains and I have the pipe snaked out every 5 or 6 years.
