Most places you call if you just press "0" several times you will get a human.

LOL! You are so right Totallyblessed. I know he tries his best and he is so busy with other jobs I really can not expect him to be on mine everyday. It is a waiting game but gosh you just get so tired of waiting! LOL! I wish he would have called me back but then I have to remember he has a life and maybe he took the weekend off to spend time with his family. He always has a good reason and I just so jump the gun and get mad. Then I come back down and settle and things are ok. It is hard when you are so close you can see it but it feels like you are running after it and it keeps running faster then you can! LOL! Two men doing a 11,000 sq ft house?! My gosh! The electrician is like that. He only works on weekends because has a full time job. He comes for 2, maybe 3 hours and then leaves. The GC told me he is fed up with him but hey, you get what you pay for. He came in with a great bid so.........*sigh* Plus he is a good friend of the GC. Seems like a jerk to me. Can y'all tell I do not like him?! LOL! He is a "no one can wire your house better then me!" kind of guy. DH could do it if he had the time but..... I keep quoting Scarlet O' Hara (Gone with the Wind)in a southern accent: "I can't think about that right now. If I do, I'll go crazy. I'll think about that tomorrow." My sister said she is getting me a tee shirt that says that! LOL! DH thinks I have already gone crazy! HEE HEE!

Had a phone call this morning ... about my computer

OJ -- my 94 year old mother got a similar call. They called late in the evening (I'm sure she was asleep) to ask her about her computer. Then they proceeded to ask her if she had a computer! She said no, she doesn't have one and that was the end of the conversation. The caller ID also said Florida. Actually, my mom does have a computer but it's the rest of the family that uses it when we are there. She doesn't go near it. She knows better than to buy anything unsolicited over the phone. I also worry that calls like this are people calling to see if the house is empty so they can break in. I suppose they could be parked in front of the house with a cell phone number from Florida to circumvent the caller id. What a world we live in.

This is a great example of someone who probably shouldn't be doing FSBO. If the simple stuff upsets you, you're going to be a mess when you start working on an offer. I always FSBO, but I am NEVER rude to agents, even those who call just to offer to list my homes. I am currently in the process of closing a home I was going to FSBO but an agent sent out a letter asking if any units were for sale. I let him sell to his waiting client because he was comfortable meeting my financial needs (I have a bottom line cash out amount I want) and we just upped the price to include his fees and closing costs. If I were you I'd consider calling back and making a totally BS excuse about the fact that you were having a bad day. Share the template information and close your call with a simple "If you know anyone suitable for the house I'd love to show it to them". This isn't the best market to peeve off the professionals. Even in a FSBO there's room for negotiations with pros. I have paid fees to several agents for bringing me a buyer..negotiated fees, less than the normal 6% but still...a sale is a sale and if they have a buyer...I'm never rude!

Where did you think the conversation would go? They said they didn't get your check-- there are all sorts of reasons that could've happened -- and to send them another one. They're not going to have somebody go through the mailroom or return to the P.O. where they have their mail drop to see if there happens to be an envelope (or 20!) on the ground nearby. Things happen -- the P.O. loses something, something gets lost in the car, etc. It's not like they're out to get you for a late fee (I've never had that happen on anything but a credit-card payment; the mortgage company will charge you a late fee if you're more than a week late, but that's not happened to me-- yet.) If this is the first time it's happened to you, be grateful. I clearly wasn't listening to your phone conversation, but it doesn't sound like anybody was rude. I'm sorry, but it just sounds like you didn't get the response you wanted to hear. She just told you what you needed to do. You can talk to them until you're blue, but they hold the cards. Hopefully that first check will never show up. If it does and they deposit it, then you're ahead one payment. If you're worried that perhaps your checking account is on the low side and it could bounce, you could transfer in a little bit from your savings account to give you a cushion there. But you know something else? Sometimes even the online payment system can mess up. I used to do my electric bill online, until I learned that they didn't have an automatic email system that confirmed the payment (I couldn't believe it didn't have that confirmation service! My other online payment systems all do!). One time a payment didn't go through. Now I pay that by check. (And they didn't turn off my service; one payment issue shouldn't make you worry about that.) Online or phone banking is also a quick way to keep track of which checks have cleared and which have not. I have never had a security issue doing that.

Here's how I get a human - make an un-intelligable response - stutter, slur your words, hit a bunch of wrong keys - the robot can't decipher what you are saying and they will get a live person on the line.

I remember reading that if you don't push or say anything, they will assume you're on a dialup phone, or that there is something wrong with your keypad, and they'll give you a person. I've tried it several times, and it's always worked.

Some time ago the province-wide (i.e. north of slightly east of Fargo, ND to north of Albany, NY) section of our national broadcaster, that holds a phone-in for over an hour about noon, five days a week, had the topic asking how we reacted to getting a recorded message offering a variety of selections when we phoned a company.

I said that when I was feelng mischievous, a substantial part of the time, I'd keep track of the time that I called and how long it took to get to talk to a warm body.

Then I'd say that I'd waited, say 2 minutes and 10 seconds to talk to that person, and that, since their company was saving money by offering me a number of options that didn't interest me instead of having the phone answered by a person who could direct my call immediately, but wasting my time, I proposed to pay them back by talking nonsense to that person for 2 minutes and 10 seconds, then get down to business.

Several of them have said that they were busy and had no time for such nonsense, and I said that if they didn't want to talk to me, that I'd like to talk to their supervisor. A couple have transferred me, but no one has hung up. Some of the supervisors have told me to press "0".

If someone had hung up, I'd have called back and tried to get as high as I could in the company and given that person a piece of my mind - not too large a piece ... can't afford too much of that kind of loss.

When I spoke of this some time ago, someone said that possibly I was dealing with a call centre, whose staff are evaluated by the number of calls that they handle ... so I decided that next time I'd ask first whether that were the case.

The host of the program said, "Oh, I love that ... I'm going to do that"!

When I wrote of this before. ... someone ... here ... said ... that ... I ... could ... accomplish ... the ... same ... result ... by ... speaking ... very ... slowly.

Freezing rain, then snow planned for around here! Think I'll stay home.

We got about 6" (other areas got quite a lot more) last week ... but a rain yesterday pretty well did away with all of it - the streams will be really full.

I always hit the zero...most of the time it works,although sometimes they answer and put you on hold and subject you to listening to awful music for prolonged periods.
This is especially true for any goverment agencies!Grrrrrrrrr!

That annoying music on hold....that is why everyone needs a speaker phone. You can continue doing something else while you are on hold.
