What To Do With a 14' RoughIn and 12' toilet
Comments (4)I want to put in a 12" toto drake into a 14" RI space. Does anyone have any ideas about what I could put behind the toilet to give it more stability The wall behind the toilet and the floor are tile. I really don't want to spend the additional money in a unifit toto toilet. Thanks...See More12' rough-in for toilet - okay to add tiles on wall?
Comments (3)Just one other quick note-- you said something about adding cement board and subway tiles to the drywall. First, you can go right over the drywall with the subway tiles if you wish in all areas except where there's a showerhead. Secondly, if you DO decide to use cement borad, there's no need for the drywall. Just use 1/2" cement board in its place....See MoreQuestion about toilet rough-in dimensions
Comments (6)It varies from toilet to toilet. I just checked all of my 4 toilets and the distance from the back of the tank to the wall ranges from about 1-1/2" to 2-1/2". I'm neurotic about finish details, but all of my toilets look fine as far as I am concerned. Also, because my base molding and the shoe molding stick out from the wall at the floor line by 1-1/4", I'd have trouble getting the toilet much closer to the wall if the sewer line was set back much closer to the wall since the back edge of the toilet base would be bumping into the molding. My advice is to not overthink this, and to just install both of them. There is no law that says the toilet tank has to set right up against the wall. And it's only unaesthetic if you obsess about it. Now if you were talking about a 3'-4" gap I'd start noticing, but I would't notice 2" or so. My main concern is whether you will actually have enough room with the 11-1/8" distance, or whether you will have to cut into the molding to get the toilet in place....See MoreWhat is the best size rug for this space? 9x12 or 11x14
Comments (7)In the last photo Beverly posted that coffee table is too big for the furniture arrangement. If you sit in those chairs you won't be able to cross your legs. You need to mock up the room. We moved into our new house last year. I used most of my existing upholstered pieces, but mixed stuff that had been in different rooms before. I just got my new coffee table this past week, only after I had placed all the furniture and knew exactly how much space I had. I have a large room with a 10x14 rug and a 48" wide table would have been too wide and limited space to cross legs. I would move the rug a bit closer to the wall of windows, to give a bit more clearance with the staircase. How often will you use that sliding door?...See Morekudzu9
