That's an interesting problem. This happens with EVERY piece of dark clothing or just with particular ones? And it always takes a week to show up? How large are these white spots? Are they uniform throughout the garment or just a few locations? Do you add detergent with water in the machine? Most laundry detergents contain brighteners and other chemicals that can effect the garment if applied directly. Have you tried a different brand of laundry detergent? Have you contacted the manufacturer of the detergent for any suggestions?

I don't want to hijack Elizabeth's thread, but I am going through the same, only have a much worse problem. My projects get really big, and I realize that in the past the boxes or baskets I have used haven't been deep enough. I was a The Old Time Pottery last weekend, - they've got a number of stores in Atlanta and I don't know if they are elsewhere. They were selling "lingerie chests" with drawers that are about the size needed for 8.5 x 11 papers, or folded legal size paper. So I bought the only 2 they had (one was their floor sample, already assembled!) and have started sticking projects in that. I have already realized I'll probably need paperweights to keep the larger piles from getting out of control and sticking so the drawers can't open. The chest is about 45" high, and the drawers look square - I would say about 14" x 14". I am planning on using these drawers and maybe if I need them some boxes. I've tried baskets before, and realize that one reason they don't work for me is that they are so heavily textured that the papers get caught by the woven strips, or it's uncomfortable for me to stick my hands in. So far, I've scoooped up the project piles on my morning room table, which serves as a desk. As long as the drawers remain easy to open (i.e., good, lasting construction of cheap furniture, as well as controlling the piles by dividing into sub-projects, if needed), this might work for me.

After ordering and returning several pairs of women's pants, where the pockets were too shallow for practicality, or the rise was too low, or the fabric contained spandex (too hot for the desert where I was going), I was out of time. Following a suggestion on another forum, what I ended up buying in-store was men's rip-stop 100% cotton pants. They had both deep front pockets and cargo pockets. I had to buy them large enough to accommodate a woman's derriere (not large by any means, but larger than a man's), then take them in at the waistband. I can sew and tailor, but even for someone with few skills in this area, it was very easy to do. (I mention this in case someone else needs to take the same route.) I HAD bought 1 pair of women's pants from L. L. Bean that fit (at 3 x the price of the men's pants I bought locally), but only wore them once. They have spandex and were much too hot.

Following raven cajun’s practical suggestion, what I ended up buying in-store the week before I left, were men's rip-stop 100% cotton pants, Wrangler’s. They had both deep front pockets and flattish cargo pockets which were not the gusseted puffy looking kind. I had to buy them large enough to accommodate a woman's derriere (not large by any means, but larger than a man's), then take them in at the waistband. I can sew and tailor, but even for someone with few skills in this area; it was very easy and fast to do, and could be done by hand if needed. (I mention this in case someone else needs to take the same route.) I ordered one pair of Cherokee black cotton scrubs with lots of pockets from Amazon, and sewed snaps into 2 of the pockets. Those were my “dress” pants, LOL. In the evening I doubt anyone could even see that I was bristling with pockets. I HAD bought 1 pair of women's cargo pants from L. L. Bean that fit (which were on sale but 3 x the price of the men's pants I bought locally), but only wore them once. They have spandex and were much too hot. The front pockets were too shallow to hold anything but a folded Kleenex without being afraid it would fall out when sitting. I will add a deeper pocket liner to those later to make them longer inside. The cargo pockets on the leg of those were fine. I also ordered a ScottEvest, a lightweight jacket version, but did not use it on this trip. It was always too hot. I’m sure I can use that later.
