gourmet / gourmand.

I've gotten a couple newsletters and flyers recently that mention upcoming events for "gourmands". I think they mean to say "gourmets". The events are intended for people who enjoy fine food (to me, a gourmet), not people who enjoy eating large amounts of food (to me, a gourmand).

Am I wrong? Have these two words now become interchangeable? I think there is a real distinction between gourmet and gourmand. The local Newcomers Club is having a Wine & Dine dinner and says "This groups invites all gourmands to attend." I feel sure they are not inviting only people who like to eat large amounts of food.
