One rib short of a full rack?

I've hardly ever made ribs of any kind, so I'm utterly ignorant about them. The other day I came across a recipe on the Bon Appétit site for braised short ribs done in the slow cooker that sounded good and easy. I had to run in and out of the supermarket very fast (husband and dogs waiting in car), so I grabbed a package that said "short ribs" and left. I just finished assembling everything in the slow cooker, and it turns out that my ribs have no bones. They look more like sliced steak of some sort. I went back and checked the photo with the recipe, and the cooked meat doesn't look anything like what I've got.

I'm sure this will come out tasting just fine, but I was curious as to whether there's more than one definition for what constitutes a short rib. Or did I get something that was mislabeled?
