Bar pull is good way to hang towels - but where do I buy it?

I know there was a thread awhile ago about where everyone keeps their kitchen dishtowels. Some people hang them from their stove handles/etc. What I want to do is buy a long stainless steel rod - I think it's called a "bar pull" - that looks similar to the handle on my range/fridge/etc. and mount it on the blank side at the end of my island. It's near the sink, but not too much in plain view so it would work well for hanging dishtowels. I want one of those nice looking ones that will match the ones on my viking fridge/etc. I need one that's either 17 or 40 inches long. Can anyone suggest a name brand and an online souce? Thanks so much!

If you have a cabinet door nearby that is out of view, what about something like this? A friend of mine has two in her kitchen and they look great. Not nearly as wide as what you are wanting though.

We have a couple of local shops that do monograms on whatever you take to them--nice! I was wondering about installing 2 hooks at, say, 1/3 of the way in from the edges of the window sill. On the bright side, your current bar location is pretty high. I think you could get away with moving your existing towel bar down a few inches and that would be fine too. It's nice that you have a heater vent just below them. Warmed towels--yum! In our master bath, I use a bar and DH has his towel on a hook. My towels tend to dry faster, but his are easier to put away. C'est la vie!

Mnerg, I hang towels on a simple long handle like Threebees, only it's a regular drawer handle that's even simpler and shorter (holds any kitchen towel folded in half lengthwise). It does NOT match my other, regular handles--but no one notices because of the towel hanging on it, and that's what I wanted to point out. The handle is the same metal as the others and has simple bent ends with no mass or detail to stick out and grab attention. BTW, I have two. One is also on my garbage pullout next to the sink. No matter how messy my hands are, it doesn't matter with a towel always there. But the other is on the inside of my island right where my hands get messy 95% of the time. When I think of the things I did right in this kitchen these little details always leap right out.

Rebecca, you don't need to block for a towel bar. The towel bars in our tub/shower areas weren't and they stayed stuck for over 30 years. The old one were stuck with mortar and grouted <lol> Didn't loosen at all. Due to my husband being sick when that part of the remodel was being done, ours didn't get blocked either this spring. There are other options that are fine for grab bars, much less towel bars. Here is one I was told about. I'm sure there are more. And as I mentioned earlier, DH is hanging his towel on a double hook and it dries fine. Wet towels/cloths, where do you hang them?

I think the biggest issue is that it takes so long for anything wet to dry in that bathroom. It's small and in the summer it gets humid. A towel/ cloth won't be completely dry and another wet one gets hung over it. In our bath which is larger and doesn't get as much use it seems stuff drys a little faster. We do use fans in both baths and open windows as weather permits but no A/C. We also put laundry from the kitchen in that small bathroom which adds to the situation. Sounds like we are split on which drys better, hooks or bars. I was thinking of adding more hooks to the room but maybe bars like shown above would be better. Going to label the hooks and remind them to wring out wash cloths tightly before hanging.

I bought our bar pulls at Expo and they make great towel holders. This picture isn't really a closeup, but it gives you an idea.

(focus also on whether the measurement is "on center," which I *think* means the distance between the screw holes, or "overall" or "o/a", which is the pull itself regardless of where it attaches)

staticfritz, thanks for letting me know it was a silly question. But I appreciate everyone helping me out even when I shouldn't need help! You all have given me some great leads! I'm stuck at home and up all night with a newborn baby, so the online resources are really helpful. I do want a hefty bar pull, and the ones I saw at Home Depot looked a little chintzy. It's hard to tell online what's quality and what is not. tally sue nyc, I really appreciate the detailed info about center poles/legs/screw holes, it will prevent me from ordering the wrong size!

for the 40": you might find pulls labeled "appliance pulls" or "appliance bar pulls" that are THICKER than all the ones I linked you to. If you want that.

I have the Liberty, and I've seen all the other ones (MyKnobs.com has its showroom not far from me), and they're all sturdy enough. Slim, but not chintzy at all
