food bargain today!?!

Wasn't thinking of turkey, but just hadda buy a "restaurant sytle" turkey breast today... wings on. It was only $6! In another month or so probably won't see them for less than twice that price. Had guy in the back cut it in half so I could freeze half for later.

Not sure what a restaurant style turkey breast is, but it does sound like you got a good deal. Even a small half turkey breast around here is going to be in the $15.00 to $20.00 range.

I'll have to look for turkey. I like it but don't think of making it other than on holidays.

Lets see- CVS has Softsoap Body Wash for $4.99, I had a $1 coupon plus got back $4.99 in Extra Care Bucks for its better than free!!!. Walgreens has Chapstick Naturals and Chapstick Shimmers for $2 and you get back $2 in register rewards coupons when you buy one so they are free (register rewards are coupons good on any purchase). Came back in and used it on a gallon of milk that was $2.99 before the coupon. Publix has a new display with Spongebob items. I debated on buying the wallet as a stocking stuffer for DD. Decided to by it for $5.99, but it rang up as $6.99 so they gave it to me for free! They have a policy-if you are overcharged the item is free!! Stopped in Kmart today. Found some bras clearanced to $1.99. Sport bras were in 2 pks for $1.99. I spent $22 on 6 bras for me, 4 bras for DD, a tee shirt ($1.99), 2 exercise type shirts ($1.99 each), a pkg of Duracell batteries, and a bag of Dubble Bubble gum.

I checked the "is it a real Kate Spade" link This is what it said about the made in what country tag on the inside. "Until 2002, the China label simply looked like the little made in Taiwan label " I checked and it does...and the embossed stamp on the outside looks the same...Soooooo....now I'm wanting it even more...LOL...but that's okay....My kids are worth it. patti

I want to go shopping with Marilyn too. I see Fresh Thyme is a chain, I was going to say the closest nice farmers market to us won't be open other than weekends until the end of this month...and it's an hour away. We're really short a good local store now with losing our Haggen Top foods to their bankruptcy. Walmart remodeled and added full grocery and there seems to be a wide variety, many choices, of packaged foods, canned, spices etc but I don't buy a lot of those products - I am not impressed with produce, dairy, meats there. That pretty much leaves Safeway. With this weeks sale I paid 87 cents/pound for whole chickens yesterday. 69 cents/lb for cabbage. Asparagus was $2.99/lb and I passed, didn't buy any. Avocados $1.50 each. Not a real bargain in the basket ;-) Nicole, I just went back and read through your figures. Wow. You may take the best shoppers award for the day....

Restaurant style has wings and all the "goodies"... neck, liver, gizzards. Regular turkey breast doesn't.

Elery bought a regular turkey breast here too, a bit less than $7. I like turkey and seldom think of cooking it for myself, so he put it on the grill today with a rub of Penzey's new "Arizona" seasoning, they have a free coupon on the front of their current catalog.

It's way, way, way too hot for me. Did I mention it was spicy? LOL It has ancho chilies and chipotle and some other kind of chilies, but no salt. Too much for me, Elery's taking that bottle home with him!

I make turkey and dressing at least once a month. I'm making soup today with turkey thighs and a couple of wings. There is a pasta vendor at the Farmer's Market. His family has been making pasta up in Hibbing, MN for a hundred years. Last fall I brought some turkey soup to my friend I help at the market. I shared some with the pasta guy. This past Saturday he gave me a new product to try. It's thick like those thick egg noodles but it's small bits. He calls them soup noodles and wanted my opinion. Can't wait to try them!

I had planned on giving that seasoning to my niece. I got the coupon and when I saw the list of ingredients I said - nope! The niece's husband and two boys will love it!
