I'd seriously get it checked out. May not be "broken" but that doesn't mean you didn't tear a ligiment or something. Make sure you also fill out a first report of injury. I don't think that "cause of injury" should be listed as Klutz though...say you twisted your ankle or something.

LOL! I bet everyone got a good laugh over that one! Hope you mend quickly. I once fell out of my desk chair at work! I slid right out of it onto the floor! I am still getting razzed about it.

My sister slipped on ice/snow, and broke her ankle and walked on it for 3 or 4 days.
I'd get it checked out.

You can walk on a broken leg. I fractured my leg and hobbled around on it for a week before finally getting an x-ray--and a cast. I was just lucky the triangle shaped crack didn't break off and travel. It would have taken surgery to remove it.

It hurt to walk, and at rest. Better safe than sorry.

Oh, my. It sounds dreadful but I admit---I'm LMBO because it sounds like something I would do!

I hyper extended my knee while simply doing a stretch...you know, the kind where you get up from a sitting position and just really have a good stretch?
A year later it still bothers me from time to time.
Take the good advice and see someone about it, you don't want to be suffering with it for years.

Get it checked out. You may have a torn ACL or other ligament damage. Left untreated they can be worse than a break.

If you twisted your knee on the way down, it's a possibility that you might have torn your acl. I agree it's a good idea to get it checked. That sounds like something I might have done--sorry for your embarrassment!

I'm going to go get it checked in about 15 minutes, I think. I'm sure it's going to be fine, but I think it hurts enough to warrant it being checked out. Thanks for all your feedback!

Susan I did 12 hour nursing shifts for 3 weeks on a broken ankle before it was officially diagnosed. The doctor I went to said I could walk so it wasn't broken and refused to xray it. Yes I could walk....but it hurt but when someone asks you to walk, you walk. I'm glad you are getting checked out but I would like to be a fly on the wall when you explain that injury! tee hee....wishing you well.

Yep, get it checked out for sure. Sorry about your embarrassing moment, but believe me you aren't the first!! When I fell on my shoulder, I must have fallen on my knees. When I tried to get up, I was on both knees. After I struggle to get up - should was badly injured and PAINFUL!!, kept walking because I didn't want anyone else to see me. But aside from the shoulder injury, I had 2 very large goose eggs - one for each knee. Since I could bend my knees and the shoulder seemed like the biggest concern, I never had the knee x-rayed. That was more than two years ago. Wouldn't you know it - found out this past summer that I have a bone chip in my left knee that would create more problems to remove. It never bothered me until it moved and interferred when I turned the corner of my bed to make up the other side. YIKES - my kneed twisted and I could feel it then! So yes, you can walk on such an injury. I would get it checked out to be sure.

Well, I'm back (cute doctor). It's not fractured, so it will be fine in a few days. He wanted to prescribe something for the pain, but I won't take anything-I'm stubborn. I just wanted to know that there wasn't going to be a bigger problem.

Once my husband injured his finger playing the piano! I suspected he was malingering - he wasn't playing it THAT hard, and I was painting the living room. But later that day, his darned finger swelled and I felt guilty.

both you and your employer pay into worker's compensation funds, so you should get it checked out. what's an hour of your time in the hospital for an xray and check up? you don't pay for it, nor does your health insurance, it will all be covered by worker's compensation.

your supervisor as are your co-worker's witnesses to your incident, so there should be no question. make sure a first report of injury is completed so it can go to the company's insurance company. your job should have a list of approved doctor's posted (at least they are supposed to) as well as who their carrier is. all this information should be given to the doctor/hospital that you treat with and no billing to you.

if there's no prolonged treatment/injury, it's just treated as a medical only claim on their end. save receipts for advil or tylenol or any over the counter because you are entitled to be reimbursed. i don't know what state you are in, so not sure your waiting period if you miss time.

hope you are feeling better. and make sure you get it looked at without delay. you don't want to cause any unnecessary additional damage to yourself.

p.s. i can tell you a more embarassing work injury i handled one time, and your embarassment would quickly evaporate, but this is your thread. it caused a reminder and made me laugh.

I am laughing with you- you poor thing!

I used to work for a mortgage company years ago and I had a little cubby with a desk and a typewriter table. I had been typing and went to push my chair back towards the aisle to talk to someone when the wheels of the chair caught on the plastic floor mat. I used quite a bit of force with that push and wound up (still sitting in the chair, mind you) on my back, looking up from the floor at the person I was trying to talk to.

Another time I had been in our file room- huge file cabinets from floor to ceiling. I was on a small latter getting a file when the fire alarm when off. Scared me so bad I fell off the ladder and my dress flew up over my head. I laid there for a second trying to collect my wits when the president of the company came by checking to make sure we were leaving the building. There I am with my dress up over my head-

Maybe it's a Susan thing...I'm so sorry to hear you hurt yourself and glad to hear it's not going to need surgery or be a major injury that needs forever to heal -
I once caught my thigh in a bee mop ringer - not even sure how that happened but I'll tell you, I had a giant welt on my leg that hurt like a *itch - ROFL, it was also one of those injuries that I couldn't tell anyone about without cracking up over how I had done it.

I sit in a cubicle now and my filing cabinet is just on the other side of the cube wall. Well, I got up to go somewhere and had left a drawer open and slamed right into it. I thought I was going to pass out. The bruise on my leg looked like I had been creamed by Tanya Harding.

Susan I'm glad you're not seriously injured.. but that was funny.

There are some funny work injury stories on here! It sure makes me feel better to know that I'm not the only one;)

My supervisor made me do an incident report today. It made me laugh again:

"equipment being used?"- a desk, chair and baffle.
"what were you doing when the incident happened?"- standing up to leave the cube.
"did you report the incident to your supervisor?"- he was standing there trying not to laugh when it happened.

It's pretty sore today, but was so supremely entertaining for my coworkers, that maybe it was worth it...lol.
