$2.95 Bar Bites

Recently, someone (maybe Alexa) shared information about a really good deal on appetizers. As I recall it involved filets. This is not filets but this is what our local Bravo has been doing all summer and I just received an email about the bar bites so apparently they are continuing them.. We go fairly often and outside of drinks we can eat for $10 to $15 for the two of us. These prices are good Mon. thru Thurs. from 4 until 7 p.m.

Great menu and amazing prices. I like though that they refer to their little plates as Bar Bites and not as a "Tapa".

Now you've gone and done it. I can just picture eating al fresco with you and your hubs. Looking good! Order me some Crispy Shrimp Napoli and Portobello & Gorgonzola Flatbread. Be there shortly! I WISH!

Todds - I LOVE my pullout pantry - it is extremely efficient use of space - not one wasted inch and it's only 10" wide. I'd happily line up 2 or more to make good use of space. It's accessible from both sides so you could make it twice as wide and it would still be just as efficient. Wider than that and you'd start to lose stuff in the middle. Keep in mind it's 30" deep (we have 30" deep countertops and the whole wall lines up) so there is a TON of storage in there. The water chiller is an Everpure, I don't recall which model and under the sink is so tight I couldn't get in there to find out even if I wanted to. I bought the entire system from Cleanwatersystems.com IIRC and GErry was a great help. I did compare brands but my main criteria was how cold the chiller got the water as we gave up ice and water in the door of the fridge. This one was the coldest and I think it is pretty much always in the high 30's/ very low 40's which is cold enough for us. The Hafele magic corner units are very expensive again IIRC we paid about $450 through the cabinet maker for each one. Because of the 30" deep cabinets and the limited space for a door opening, they were the best bet for us. Believe it or not, I have even more stuff stored behind them and back in the corner of the cabinets. The back corner is for stuff I literally use once a year as I have to take out the drawers to get there. In a standard 24" deep cabinet these would be the bees knees. Good luck with your remodel. The best is when it's all done and you find you have a kitchen that not only looks great but is great to work in.

Hi Rusty : There was no need for an Apology. I still have a little Common Sense left, to underdstand. Post whatever you like. I don't mind . Everyone else does :) lol . LOL Didn't think to use the Dyana Bits for Cheesecake Crust. Thanks again I use the Grahams for the Cheesecake Crust I mix in about 1/3 Chocolate Grahams. I think you meant " when you don't want " too much " Chocolate flavor " use the Rice Crispies. But I'm not going to assume anything ! lol LindaC: I don't worry too much about Junk food anymore. I eat everything in Moderation anyway. Sometimes I think we all Pig Out. It clears the cob Webs. Remember what they said about Technology. I stops you from going forward. Not good too learn too much , :) LOL Lisacdm: Thanks for the tip. I have a bag of Oreo's. Think I'll save them for my next Cheese Cake. If it don't turn out right , don't worry . I'll blame you. For that age group, I'd make "brownie bites" in them with your favorite brownie recipe, pipe a little blob of cream cheese frosting on top and garnish with 1/4 of a maraschino cherry or a cherry from pie filling. If you want to do cheesecakes, kids like these because of the chocolate crust but they would probably like brownies better. TINY CHERRY CHEESECAKES 1 cup flour 1/3 cup sugar 1/4 cup baking cocoa 1/2 cup cold butter 2 Tbsp. cold water Filling: 2 packages (3 oz. each) cream cheese, softened 1/4 cup sugar 2 Tbsp. Milk 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 egg 1 can (21 oz.) cherry pie filling In a small bowl, combine flour, sugar and cocoa: cut in butter until crumbly. Gradually add water, tossing with a fork until dough forms a ball. Divide and shape into 24 balls. Place a ball in greased miniature muffin cups; press dough evenly onto the bottom and up the sides of each cup. In a mixing bowl, beat cram cheese and sugar until smooth. Beat in milk and vanilla. Add egg; beat on low just until combined. Spoon about 1 tablespoonful into each cup. Bake at 325 degrees for 15-18 minutes or until set. Cool on a wire rack for 30 minutes. Carefully remove from pans to cool completely. Top with pie filling. Store in the refrigerator. Makes 2 dozen.

I haven't been able to log in for awhile - I'm not ignoring the questions. Rosa - technique is bias strips sewed onto a background in any shape or arrangement a person wants. Not hard to do. Rainey - I picked parts of patterns from Celtic designs in a book and made a basic rectangular design. Then I "morphed" one end narrower to made sides tapered. I cut this pattern out of template plastic and marked each motif onto a white background, one at a time. I didn't use bias bars. I cut 3/4" strips on bias and pulled them through a Clover bias tape maker, ironing as it comes out the other end, to make a 3/8" strip. Remember you cross over and under in spots so it is easy to hide an end and start a new piece of bias. Jayne - it's appliqued down by hand. One motif takes one evening in front of the TV. Sue - that's 5 feet across whole quilt, not 5 inches. So, it's really quite easy. Take a motif you like, taper it in to make it wedge shaped, make a bunch of zerox copies of the motifs and lay them out in wreath shape. When you get the diameter that makes them all fit the way you like, measure distance from center to edge of motif. Then you press or mark center lines, maybe 45 degree lines, whatever locators you need and mark your motifs with a water soluble marker putting motif centerline on pressed lines and inside edge at your specified diameter. Mine are 8-1/2" from center of background to center of motif inside edge. Any other questions? I'll discuss it directly if someone wants more. E-mail me.

What a fun little menu - and the prices are really great! The place I posted about recently, had Hot Pot available at the bar for happy hour - I thought it was a nice and very unusual offering. I love places like the one you mentioned that has something other than the ubiquitous wings, hummus, cheese plate with honey, and deep fried frozen whatever from the bulk delivery place.

I would love to join you for drinks and snackies!

A great idea! I'd go to a bar and have a beer or glass of wine if the snacks were that reasonable. Plus, the longer some people sit and drink, the more they will snack on the bar food = more revenue for the restaurant.

I think our group went to Bravo in Knoxville last year. Great food and a cute waiter that we wanted to take home with us. We loved our meal there.

While it is only good on Tuesdays after 5 pm, Bar Louie has a $1 hamburger special. It is their standard big burger, served with a bun and lettuce, and you build from there for a small charge. Fifty cents for cheese, another 50 for onions or toms, etc. Dinner for 2 with an order of fries or tater tots (shared, it is huge) has been running us about $7.50. I can 't buy, prep, cook and clean up for that price!

Alexa, come on down!

Teresa, it is a good place and if we have drinks, it goes without saying, they are more than our food. The appetizers are substantial...the shrimp one has 8 med size shrimp and DH orders it every time.
