I forgot to congratulate you on such a great accomplishment! I don't think I could be disciplined enough to complete a part of a book, let alone an entire manuscript.

Del Casher (aka Del Kacher), a good friend of mine, used to play with Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. I might be able to talk him into giving an interview. Del is also know for his development of the Wah-Wah pedal. He is also friends with Les Paul (now 93) and his wife Mary Ford. Del's web site is linked below.

OH, I hope you do a part on Brad Delp. He was lead singer for Boston. He was such a tortured soul. We met him several times and he was so nice to our kids. (We did a Boston tour one summer for 2 weeks, followed them around and had backstage passes to all the shows we saw) Kids just loved him. By the end, he would bypass other fans and grab my kids, greet them fondly by name and hug them. When he killed himself we were soooooo sad. Nobody knew how down he was. He would do anything for anyone and never felt like people liked him. So terribly sad. Now when we listen to the radio and he comes on, we have to turn the station. Hurts to much to hear his wonderful voice and know he is gone...... so very sad. He left kids and a woman he was to marry in a few short months, but just couldn't take it anymore. Why do people take their own lives? Hard, so very hard to understand. Even my kids have a hard time listening to them now, and it has been years since we did that tour. He was wonderful, as a singer and person. Mostly, a person. RIP Brad.

Minnie, keep in mind that Stephen King's first book (I think it was Carrie) was rejected something like 66 times before he found a publisher.

I have thought about this book for such a long time and decided it was time to start writing. I am starting the book off with the Day the Music Died.....Buddy Holly. I am including not just "Rock & Roll" but Soft Rock, Hard Rock, etc. As I told DH....there is more to the deaths then just Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison, and Elvis.

The way I am trying to construct this is to give everyone 1 page of information and I am keeping it in date order.

Sounds like a wonderful idea. I always feel a loss when I hear of another rock-n-roller gone. Think of Jim Morrison, Mama Cass, John Lennon. Seems like a part of me gone. Good luck with your book,SK! I would absolutely LOVE to read it.

I am the same way. I felt a sense of loss when Mike Gibbins of Bad Finger and Mike Botts of Bread died. Both of them were drummers and I had the pleasure of interviewing both of them. Every time I hear one of their songs I listen closely to the drums.
