C2: An Ultra-premium paint line. "Collections of Color". Hence...C2! Getting very popular here in Fargo...!

ICI: Imperial Chemical Industries. All previous ICI & Glidden brands/stores stores will now be known as Glidden Professional; again, because of the takeover/re-branding by Akzo-Nobel.

COROB: A brand name of a leading paint-tinter company. Some of these machines hit $20+ G's in a hurry...
C2 stores are required to use these, because C2 uses 16 colorants instead of the usual 10-12.

The familiar designer name is Martha Stewart. First she was involved with Sherwin Williams, then had a short fling with Valspar, and now her new flame is the Home Depot. And that's not to mention the liaisons she's had with Sears, Kmart, and Mendards. I don't think I left any out. She sure does get around, dang.

Martha had a thang with Menards, too? I totally missed that one! Does she just keep going where the grass looks greener or what?

So Faron, ICI stores will no longer be independent? I've never used the paint, but have their color cards (it's a sickness). What will happen to EK FS paint?

I talked to Ellen the other day. Well, email. The arrangement is still in place with Azko as it was with ICI. Sounded like business as usual for Ellen Kennon Paints despite the changes in the ICI/Azko stores.

That news will keep a lot of campers happy around here!

Martha Stewart also had a delightful spin with Fine Paints of Europe. When I was using FPE they had a series of Martha colors. Beautiful too. You can still get the colors, but now they're just numbered vice named, like other FPE colors and Martha is no where to be seen...

Where is the Ralph Lauren to be found now? I read this thread, then, went into my Home Depot this week and it was truly gone. I need a chip. I may need paint.

I think you'll have to use their store-locator now, to find the independants who sell RL.

I could mail you some chips if you'd like...and/or...call your nearest dealer and ask to buy a fandeck. I think you can buy-'em on the site too...

Faron, thank you. I just checked there, and the RL site is still only showing the two Home Depots in Fresno for paint, so that's out. I know I have some chips in my stash and will see if I have what I want. I was thinking about getting the paint itself, but that's out for this project since I need to start on the weekend. I will order my fandeck though, since that will be useful.

I'd like to know who has developed the new Martha colors for HD. The woman who did the K-Mart line was Eve Ashcraft. She also worked with Christopher Peacock on his line of colors. I never loved the SW line or got the combos like I did the K-Mart ones. The Lowe's colors were fine, but again, nothing like those original colors at K-Mart. The collection was concise and use-able.

I agree Amy. There were so many colors in the K-mart line that attracted me. I can't say that about the Lowe's line. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't the same. I'd be curious to know more about Ms. Ashcraft. (And how did you learn she developed that line, you little paint sleuth? ;)

This made me think of something. If someone like a Martha Stewart has a line with their name on it to be distributed by Company XYZ, are those precise formulas copyrighted or 'reserved' somehow for a time? I mean, I know color is color and anyone can create about anything, but why was there such a difference between K-mart and Lowes? Atlantic comes to mind. A very popular color. But I never saw it at Lowes, not even under another name. Why not carry some of those sure things over into another distributor, e.g. same K-mart colors into Lowes? Is that because the agreement with K-Mart was for specific formulas and part of the agreement was no other company could distribute that precise formula under the MS name for xx years, or something along those lines?

I am not sure if I should confess this but, I found a RL color I loved at my HD recently but all the RL was gone so they color matched it in Behr and that is what I am using in my kitchen. Ducking for cover now. LOL

I went to my HD tonight hoping I could pick up the RL 'Bone Black'i've always used on my furniture. I looked around and it was nowhere in sight. I asked the young man working in the paint dept. about it, and he said it was all packed up just yesterday and replaced by MS. He told me she and HD are a 50/50 company~has anyone else heard this? I found a Behr black and hope I like it as well as the RL. ;o)

Does anyone know when the Martha Colors will be available at HD? Also, what other products under the Martha line will be available there? It will be nice for some of us po' folks to have another option for inexpensive but stylish items. I find that I like alot of the Allen Roth products at Lowes. Martha at HD should expand the options. I just wish we had a bigger selection of low cost but stylish items here in the New Orleans market. No Homegoods stores for us. I'm stuck with TJ Maxx and Marshalls!

Was RL paint any good or was it just Behr with different colors?

Do you think ICI will get worse, or Glidden will get better since the takeover?

Home Despot will have "green" cleaning supplies from Martha and outdoor furniture. Maybe more, but that's all I could find a couple weeks ago when I first saw the cleaners by the entrance.

Moon, I am not sure when I discovered Ms. Ashcraft. Have know about her for a couple years. How did I find her? By being a Paint Geek, of course. :-)
