Oh, my! More arrived from my talented cousin!

A box arrived in the mail this afternoon. First, my cousin knitted these double mittens in alpaca. The colors are called Poinsettia and Sunflower. They feel like silk.

Then I unwrapped this small portait she did from an old black & white photograph. It's unmistakably me!

I'm so delighted -- and it's not even my birthday!

oh, tenderlee, ya crack me up! Hey, they made a song about us trashy women, somethin' 'bout likeing their women on the trashy side! I think they even sang something about my hairdo, the Dolly Parton hair, us southern girls can get that wild high hair with a good old can of that Aussie Freeze hair spray!!LOL!!OK, back to your question, yes, it is a knife handle and it is attached to one of those suction cups with the wire. Cherry even included some sweet little pink roses in the top of it, but you can fill it with water and add a flower or even a vine to root. I stuck it on my kitchen window and it is so cute. I am charging my camera right now, (it went dead at a birthday party tonight, as usual!)so I will take a better pic tomorrow for you. Thank you so much, again, Cherry, I am loving my pretties so much!! And thanks everyone for the great comments! Jeanne, U R so right, CHRISTMAS IN JANUARY!!!! Thanks to my talented friend Cherry, I love all of the little crafting supplies, I am gonna have some fun with those! Everything she sent is BEAUTIFUL beyond words! She's amazing! blessings-sherri

So is the problem you're having resolved related to the insane amount of rain we got last year? We have been dealing with water issues as well. In fact, the $6,000 waterproofing project really wasn't the way I wanted to spend my money, LOL. Our house is on a corner lot of a cul-de-sac and the terrain slopes down from the street all the way to the bottom of our street into the woods. Remember that day about a year ago when we got about 5 1/2 inches of rain in one day? That was the beginning of our water problems. For us, the ground underneath the slab portion of our house is so saturated that every time the rain is heavy enough and long enough, we had water breaching a wall in our basement/elevated crawl space on the other side of the slab. Sorry you are having to do all this work now. Your hostas will be OK in the pots and when you get to put them back and make that area beautiful again, it will be very rewarding.

Can you spare a prayer for my Cousin, Becky?

LindaC, the docs aren't saying much, of course, but it appears that while under anesthesia she aspirated some stomach fluid into her lungs and who ever is in charge of watching for such things didn't catch it until things were so desperate that she ended up on the ventilator. She still has the tracheostomy tube, I don't know when she'll get rid of that, but she's home and breathing on her own, uses a bit of supplemental oxygen every now and then when she doesn't shut up for a while, LOL. It's just so good to hear her no one wants to tell her to be quiet. (grin) Annie

Good thoughts going to DeAnn and you, and for the others in the family who are being difficult ... and some prayers, as well. Tell DeAnn to do the best that she can and let the chips fall where they may. (((((DeAnn and Patti, and family))))) ole joyful

I don't know yet . . . I have one hanging in the living room, and a small one propped on the mantle. I was thinking another would go in the little room at the top of the stairs, which I recently painted (and which will house one of those rugs from the HDC outlet). But now I'm wondering if it might be nice to give them all their own wall, which I could do. I have to think about this.

Thanks for looking!

Obviously your cousin loves you very much and she shows it with the fruit of her creativity. That's saying a lot. You must have earned it some way I'm sure. I'll bet you're a wonderful cousin. Love all that she's done. Wonderful.

Thank you, everyone, and Yayagal, it's nice of you to put it that way. Barbara and I are one month apart in age and have always had a good relationship even though we've almost always lived in different states.

Our contact got more frequent after we were both widowed--and more frequent still after we got phone plans that allowed some free calling! It even survived the Presidential election, about which we heartily disagreed.

Trish, I have one stinky boy cousin. He doesn't paint; nor does he knit. I never hear from him. :-)
