Re-sizing pictures to send in Outlook Express?

When I try to send a picture in Outlook Express, they come out HUGE. I can't find anywhere in OE to make them smaller...

I save the ones I want to send in PhotoBucket and just resize them there, then re-save them.

Easier than finding a resizing program.

I send them in outlook all the time and it asks if i want to make smaller/ You have to right click on the pic , then click on send to mail recipient then it asks if i want to resize.Then you just send to whoever...

You can make a SCRATCH folder in Outlook express which will be in the same place as the inbox, sent, etc. click on view and then click on GO TO FOLDER. At the top of the drop down box click at the top to unexpand the list then at the right you should see NEW FOLDER. Click on this and then enter a name for the folder. Usa SCRATCH if you want to. Go back to the inbox and then when you want to MOVE or COPY an email to the SCRATCH folder right click on the email title and them choose move or copy. when you choose the SCRATCH folder name and click OK it will be transferred to that folder. This allows you to SAVE emails if this is what you waht to do. HTH John

sometimes even emails from people you know really are not from people you know! I just got an email from my nephew who often times sends me links to see his kids on little videos or picture albums. Yesterday when I got the email from him and noticed all the email addresses at the top that struck me as strange because he is like me and never leaves email addresses exposed, then on to the link, before I clicked it I hovered my mouse over it and looked down at the bottom of my browser to see if it would give the same address as the link well it did NOT, which let me know this was going to re-direct me somewhere else. That is how people end up on porn sites and infected sites with out knowing how they got there! Since I was on linux and was not afraid of infection I clicked the link and sure enough it took me to some viagra site. Which if I had gone there on my windows machines may well have tried to install some type of malware. So I emailed my nephew immediately to let him know he had a problem. He thankfully was already aware of it and was scanning with malwarebytes to see what showed up. Something had taken over his email and sent that out to everyone in his list which is why all those email addresses were showing, so it looked like it was from him but it was not really him that sent it. So anytime you have a link in an email it is a very good idea to hover your mouse over it and see if it shows the same address down below as it does in the link. This is one reason I hate those short links since you have no idea what the link is going to.

Wondering who you are sending it to. Thats HUGE - I would be upset if someone sent me that without asking me. That really is too big for emails. That size picture I would upload to a file server & just give a link to it. To big for even a standard webpage view. Maybe you might like something like Dropbox which is a sync'd folder on your computer with an online server. Then people could view or download it from the web by clicking a web link. I use irfan view to resize my pictures for mailing. It is "free" software. Google for it.

If you use MS Office 2003, you should have MS Office Picture Manager. Chose this to open your jpg (photo) file.

Once it opens, at the top menu, select "Picture". Depends on how large your photos are, you can either chose "Compress" and/or "Resize" to make the photo smaller size. Then, save it to another name. When I have a 1.5 MB size photos, I normally do both, compress first then, resize.

Here's step-by-step instruction:
1) Open file in MS Office Picture Manager
2) Select Picture\Compress
3) Right side menu gives 3 choices: Documents, Web Pages, E-mails. )Chose one and you'll see the size it compress it into. You can do "Edit\undo..." if you don't like it). I normally select Documents, and hit "OK" at the bottom of the menu.
4) Select Picture\Resize
5) Easiest choice is to do a "Percentage". I normally, resize from 60% and up. Again, you can play around with the different percentage to give you some idea and if you don't like it, do Edit\Undo.
6) Save or Save as your photo.

This tool also allows you to compress and/or resize multiple photos and Save All at the same time. Select the Thumbnail icon to do multiple photos.

Be careful not to Resize too much; otherwise, your photos loses quality.

I also use this tool to "crop" the photos. If you use crop, do this before doing compress/resize.
