I was just coming in here to say something about the bad weather there. I thought it was Edmond she'd moved to.

Yup, I was ready to take cover. even had my helmet in the closet.

Went by about 4 miles west of me. It is still eriee here, really quiet. No bird noises or anything.

Just fired my puter back up.

I see those red boxes on The Weather Channel covering 2/3's of Oklahoma. So you all stay safe.

Is it unusual for tornadoes in your area at this time of year? I hate hearing about them....they're so destructive.

We are okay for now. I just checked our local weather and are supposed to have some thunderstorms through tomorrow and some possibly high winds, but nothing has been mentioned about a tornado. I hope it stays that way. It was a year ago this week that we had a bad one come through here.

They are supposed to hit here around 8 pm tonight. Right now it's sunny and 72 degrees.

There is a lockdown on several schools so they don't release the kids out into this weather.

We just got rain here. I think 12 drops. :-)

Stacy, let us know when you talk to Syd. There is lots of damage in Edmond.

The damage is all west and north of me, and the college. the threat is not over yet, even so, the weatherman says, the rest of the thunderstorm line is not tornadic?

Anyhow, I thought I check back in. Right now, it is still rather quiet.

Some of my friends have no electric, cause of downed power lines and poles.

Jerry is still at work. Everyone there had to go to the tornado shelter.

I hope, everyone else is ok too.

My niece is there now while her husband is working in the oil fields. There staying on the 3rd floor of a hotel and she had called her mom in Utah to tell they had tornado warnings out and while she was on the phone sirens started going off and my sister asked her what was the noise and niece said, sirens but i don't know what for. She had never been around tornado's or there warnings. My sister told her it means take cover so she got in truck and drove to where her husband is at. They just found out where they have been living got damaged and they can't get back there.Niece is ready to go back to Utah.

According to our news we will have the most danger between 10:00 and 12:00 tonight.
The rain we are getting is a blessing, but the winds can go away!

Check in everyone - I just saw the storms on the news! It's pretty bad out there - deadly. Prayers that everyone is safe.

She is lucky. Getting in a vehicle is one of the worst things you can do. She probably should have asked the hotel desk clerk where to take cover.
Without a shelter, the rule of thumb is "Lower level. Interior room without windows."

We know she shouldn't have and before my sister could tell her what to do she had panicked and hung up the phone and took off. She had never experienced a tornado or even a warning. Moni, i'm trying to find where she's at now. She called back and said, they were ok. Soon as i know i will let you know.

I watched the news this morning and at least 8 have died overnight. I hope everyone here is safe.

I just saw on the news that 15 confirmed lost their lives in the storms over night and immediately thought of Moni and OkWriter and all of you in that area. ((((((Okies)))))

I hope that all Okies will check in today and that all are okay. We had some storms come up quickly last night, but luckily we only had high winds and a small amount of rain.

OKwriter, aka Rita is fine as well. I don't know of any KT members in the affected area.

There is family of Oklahoma Gardening members in the Lone Grove area, but so far, we think all are ok.
