OT: what do you cook and how does it affect your layout?

I cook a lot of soups and stews and things that I start on the top of the range and finish in the oven. Because I cook this way, I like having a range vs. separate cooktop with wall ovens. I have just one sink and it has a disposal so when I prep, I tend to stand right next to the sink and peel vegetables and dispose of skins right into the sink, then a couple of steps over to the stove top to put these things into the pot.

I am making soup this morning and was just thinking of how well my kitchen works for me, but just with the variety of things people making (thinking of trailrunner with her breads and deep frying), how other layouts could work too.

How do you cook and what is good or bad about your layout given your kitchen habits?
