Throw Away the Cap?
Comments (3)That's wonderful, I'm happy for you BigDaddy. I've not done the circle of water filled jugs myself, though I think I will remember it and someday give it a try. On rare occasion I have tossed an old bed comforter over the containers and took it off the next morning as soon as the sun was over the fence and warming that blanket. You must be prompt with removing the blanket because it can trap heat underneath, especially if it's a dark and heavy blanket. I've seen my tomato seedlings in their containers go through nights just a bit below freezing, say down to 28-29 degrees or so, maybe 27 but I haven't eyeballed it on the thermometer, but the 28-29 I have seen with my eyes. You think they're going to fail but amazingly they take it. If you think the temps are going to drop below freezing I think a blanket will be helpful, certainly emotionally helpful, and it will insulate the transplants against being hit by a hard freeze. Comments (1)hi hermajesty.. That's great to know. My Blanco sink is in anthracite (black) so I can't tell if it's stained or not, but I think I will give it a good scrub with some baking soda. It can't hurt could it? On a side note..if you have white residual clouding your black Blanco silgranite sink, a little CLR and a green scrubie will make that disappear. Got that info from the Blanco people, themselves. Thanks for sharing your experience... KA:)...See MoreOK to throw it away - thank you
Comments (28)This is a great thread! I know my clutter keeps me from being able to fully enjoy my home. My garage becomes the dumping ground when company is coming over. Parts of my house and garage are overwhelming...... The work bench is covered with little bits that need a home; screws, washers, nails, etc. Reading this thread gives me the hope that I can decide to just junk it! 2 years ago when my son was first going off to college he told me he just couldn't bring himself to throw out all those school papers from years gone by. My advice to him was to make a stack of what he wanted to keep, scan it and throw out the paper copy. I told him that by the time he had done 10% of the stack, he would decide that about 90% of the remaining stack wasn't worth the effort to scan and would just pitch it into the recycle bin. Unfortunately, I'm not very good at following the same advice I gave him. I want to keep tabs on this thread and continue to be inspired....See MoreThe courage it takes to just throw it away
Comments (13)Engineerchic, thinking of things in terms of hours, rather than dollars, sometimes works for me. I guess I getting close enough to the end that it is clear that the total number of hours available is finite. As for tossing a bucket of stuff unsorted, even with that perspective, I admit I couldn't do it - I'd have to do at least a rough sort and scan. I have too many regrets about things in life to the extent that my motto now is "what will it take to have no regrets?" And if it takes an hour of sorting stuff (good to keep near phone in case someone chatty calls), that is worth it to me. My internal enviromaniac is partly to blame here. If it can be recycled or composted, at my house it always is. While I have had the epiphany that in trying not to overburden the landfills I was turning my house into a landfill (those days are over, thankfully), I still have to make the effort. Gaia guilt, you could call it. But I admire your ability to free yourself of all my hang-ups :-) Karin L...See Moretalley_sue_nyc
