Marshmallow substitute for cream

Look at me! I have internet at home now, so I can be on during the weekend. I'm sure you'll all be thrilled that I can bug you after 4:30PM Central and on Sat/Sun.

Ok, so here's my bugging for today. I am trying to clean out the pantry. I have mucho graham crackers, mucho left over chocolate candy and I have marshmallows. Sounded like S'more Cookie Bars to me. Since the point of my exercise is to clean out the pantry, not acquire more, and I have a bag already, can I just melt them down so as to measure it as though it was marshmallow cream? I would love to make homemade, but, not today. Thanks!

Substitute for marshmallow creme:
For 1 cup marshmallow cream heat 16 large or 160 miniature marshmallows + 2 tsp corn syrup in the top of a double boiler.

Equivalents
7 oz. jar = 2 1/8 cups

I needed to do this once and this is what I did.

Marshmallows bought in bags as individual bits are made with gelatin so that they keep their shape; marshmallow fluff does not contain gelatin.

If one were to attempt to make a marshmallow cream-type substance from scratch, one would use sugar, egg whites, corn syrup and vanilla--just like the commercially available product of the same name. Marshmallow fluff is not made from marshmallows, just similar ingredients.
I checked on ask.com.

You would be able to melt them but it wouldn't be the same consistence.

If you take sour cream and put it in a cheesecloth and let most of the water leak out, you essentially have cream cheese. Except that yours doesn't have starch, guar gum, or any of the other stabilizers/additives. So that's a great way to do it. Or you can use yogurt and do the same thing. Whatever you don't use, you can form into little balls and submerge in olive oil with some herbs.

FRUIT DIP 12 oz cream cheese 1 cup confectioners' sugar 1 cup sour cream 7 oz jar marshmallow creme 2 tsp vanilla 2 tsp almond extract 2 tsp cinnamon 2 TBL cognac, optional In small bowl of mixer, cream the cheese until soft & smooth. Add the confectioners' sugar & beat until well blended. Add the sour cream & the rest of the ingredients. Blend just until well combined. Place in serving bowl. I think there's no real proof that dietary fat makes you fat, and I don't think I'd skip the cream--the calories per serving can't be that much. I've linked to a study in the scholarly journal Nutrition, and here's an excerpt from the abstract: "The DGAC Report does not provide sufficient evidence to conclude that increases in whole grain and fiber and decreases in dietary saturated fat, salt, and animal protein will lead to positive health outcomes. Lack of supporting evidence limits the value of the proposed recommendations as guidance for consumers or as the basis for public health policy. It is time to reexamine how US dietary guidelines are created and ask whether the current process is still appropriate for our needs." I sub plain good yogurt for sour cream in baking if I don't have any sour cream..no difference in texture or taste at all..

Yea Robin. Internet-that's one more thing back to normal.

The kids love those new jumbo marshmallows. I found them when visiting Sheshebop about a year ago and they have just now gotten to our stores here.

Dunno know that anything I do could ever be considered "normal", but I am glad I'm getting to where everyone else already is. Well, most people are.

Congratulations Rob, I know you'll enjoy being able to be "on" after work and on weekends. And for your information there's a lot about you that's normal. I wish I had your cooking skills, for one thing!
