Range backsplash: white, square tiles, running bond

Hi! I bought inexpensive 4" square white ceramic Daltile tiles from HD to install for our DIY range backsplash. The backsplash will be about 60 inches wide, it will be flanked on either side by windows, and it will extend from the counter backsplash to the bottom of the range hood.

My question is regarding the pattern for installation. The tiles are plain, but I like them for their simplicity and clean look. We put our floor porcelain tiles on a diagonal so I wondered if it would look inconsistent to put the backsplash in using a different pattern, running bond, or should we stick to the diamond? DH held the tiles to the wall and I think running bond looks really nice so I'm already leaning that way :-) If it matters, are cabinets look similar to Shaker style (Ikea Adel birch) and the kitchen, overall, feels understated and calm, which I LOVE.
