Wow, that is so cool. I really like the floral one. I just might have to think about that. Kind of expensive, but the colors are so pretty and my mixer is white.

Thanks everyone. They must have either removed the Viking front label or covered it up or I would have noticed it. I am not sure if that is it or not but looks very close. I tried to see the writing on the side but it was very small.

Thanks for the link to the fan page but all they show is the KA. This episode (Honey, I shrunk the cake.) went back to 4/2007 so he has been using it awhile.

I had dreamed to get a Viking but it was a bit too pricey. Cuisinart came out with a similar model (made by Delonghi I believe) with a tilted head. The price was much more affordable especially when I had a 25% family coupon from Linen 'n Things. My Cuisinart 7qt. is quite heavy duty. It knead dough very well. Can't say enough about it.

If you're thinking of getting one, I advise to register online with Linen n' Things. The 25% discount coupon comes via 3-mail once or twice a year. I think the fall coupon is coming up soon.

Clare, like others, I recognized the model. It looks like the brand was taped over with a piece of silver duct tape to match with the stand mixer color.

I've done alot of homework for a long while when planned to purchase a stand mixer. Viking was my first choice up until the Cuisinart came out with a 7qt. & 1000 watts model at a more affordable price.

As for the picture, I did a "print screen". It's like taking a snapshot of whatever is on your screen. Here's how:

It depends on what PC you're using. On my laptop, there's a function key (fn) on the bottom left of the keyboard. On the top right of the key board, there's a "home/prt sc" key, press both at the same time to print whatever is on the screen(s).

On a regular full scale keyboard, press the CTRL key and PRINT SCRN (top right, next to f12 key) key at the same time.

Now, that you have taken a snapshot, you'd need to paste it somewhere. Open Paintbrush and do a "paste". Then save it as a .jpg file. Now, you can open the saved file as a photo file and crop, resize or compress as you'd like.

This is useful whenever you can't save a pic or file on the web.

Yep...definitely a Viking. I have had the 5-qt. one for almost 3 years and love it. When my KA finally did the dance of death, I researched stand mixers until I was sure the Viking was the one for me. It fit all of my criteria, including all metal gear transmission, 800 watts of power (we all know how subjective that can be), a tilt head, low profile (to fit under my low-to-the-counter ceiling cabs) wheels on the back for ease of maneuvering, and the country of origin (the UK or Italy, not China). Granted it's a bit pricey, but it's worth it. The Cuisinart hadn't been on the market at that time, but I still would have chosen the Viking for a couple of reasons, including quality, where it's manufactured, and those great little wheels ;o) The Baker's Catalog/King Arthur Flour folks were extremely helpful with the "real life" application recommendation, as well. I chose the 5-qt. because I like the fact that the bowl isn't too deep. I have made double batches of breads, cookies and cakes, and it's roomy enough. I found that the 7-qt. bowl was a tad too deep for just one smaller batch of ingredients. If I want to make a larger amount I just do two batches, which for me is easier than dealing with a too-deep bowl.

They do a lot of "brand hiding" on Good Eats.

One funny one, though, was he pulled out a bottle of some sauce and it was obviously Heinz, because you could see the Keystone, but it had a fake label on it that said "Kerry."

Why the brand hiding?

Well, Kerry is married to Heinz, no mystery there.

ntt_hou - Thanks for the instructions. I know how to do print screen but didn't know where you got it from. Can you see the shows on your computer? I know you can do that with some TV shows. And it now so obvious that it has duct tape over it.

barnmom - I think they don't want to give companies free advertising if they are not getting paid. And there is probably a legal reason behind it too. Also don't want to give the impression that they are endorsing that brand if they are not.

mrsmarv - Thanks for the detailed review of the Viking. I have looked into it as a possiblity if the KA is on its last legs. And I like the idea of the back wheels.

John Kerry is married to Theresa Heinz Kerry, whose first husband was a scion of the Heinz family.

They do brand hiding because often advertisers don't want to see rival brands used on the show. Very common.
