The lemonade ones are my favorite. I think that's the one you just described...I try not to eat them though cause they aren't healthy at all but they are good!

DH and DD are LOVING those shortbread ones. I pass. (At least for now)

They are $4 a box here. I think they are called by different names in different parts of the country. The lemon ones are called Savannah Smiles. We still have Samoas.

There's different bakeries depending on what state you're in. Cookie variety's are basically the same but yes, different names like Samoas/Caramel Delights, Trefoils/Shortbread, etc. Lemon ones vary, ours are called Lemonades they're different from the Savannah Smiles. I'm sure they're both good :)
If you can't or don't want to eat them, you can buy a box for the military and they're shipped to the troops. It's a nice way to support the GS and the military.

I never even saw one Girl Scout selling cookies this year. I missed out on Thin Mints, my all time fave.

I got two boxes but will not eat them as I need to drop some weight. I'll drop them at the homeless center tomorrow.

Yes, DH brought home Savannah Smiles and Thin Mints. Samoas are my favs but he can't have coconut so I missed out.

I don't think the Girl Scouts sell cookies the ways they used to. They used to go door-to-door in their neighborhoods but today I guess that's just not safe in some places. Nowadays their parents take order forms to work and sell them there (2 co-workers were selling this year) -- and they do bring in a lot of sales for their kids.

They also used to set up tables outside of grocery stores, but I haven't seen that lately, probably because the groceries want customers to buy THEIR cookies on the shelves!

It all makes me wonder what kind of lesson the scouts are really learning if their parents are doing a lot of the sales work.

In addition to sending cookies to the military overseas, there are folks who take them to the large military hospital/rehab center in my area.

I have a girl scout. We still sell door to door. The girls are required to take a parent with them even when you are selling on your street and know the neighbors. For the last two years, we have been given cookies instead of taking orders. It is more difficult to pull a wagon around with a variety of cookies boxes. We don't always have time to go door to door when the weather is nice. We also do booths in front of stores. The stores have to give permission. I'm sure there have been some complaints because some of the stores have put restrictions on selling.

Pammyfaye, my dad agreed with you about cookie sales. He would never take stuff like that to work to sell it. Dh does take cookies to work, but he just leaves them in the break rooom on the honor system or gives them away. I try not to pimp my kids for fundraisers. I know various organizations need money so usually I just donate money instead of doing the fundraiser. Girl Scout cookies are something people request so I let dd sell them. She will never be a high seller because I don't believe in going to extremes to sell.

I like the Peanut Butter ones and the Thin Mints. I always buy a couple boxes. When I was a teenager, my younger sister was in Girl Scouts and my mother was "The Cookie Mom", meaning the boxes of cookies were all delivered to our house and Mom had to stack them up and assemble the orders for all the girls. Lucky we had a big living room.
