It is over on the kitchen forums, I happened to see it the other day it is a long thread from a few years back but still alive. It is so neat. I love the pictures! I spent way too much time reading it but really enjoyed it. Thought you might too if you have not seen it.

What a fantastic thread, Raven!!!!

AND I learned from it, that Jodi had a beloved pet that passed a couple of years ago. All the time that I've been here, I had no idea that she had a little dog.

That was fun. The bulldogs photo for match and accent piece was priceless.

I was glad to see someone else has german shepherds in their house too like my sis does. Her spacious kitchen desperately needs a remodel, maybe she's waiting for her 2 to grow up ;) They're 3 yrs now.

That be the one; thank you! For the life of me I couldn't figure out where I'd been on Friday, and didn't even remember the title of the post. Much obliged!

Ladies, ladies, ladies; this is just the sort of thing I was talking about. I leave home for a week only to return to find the kitchen all tore up! Seriously, I'm really impressed with what bigbaby has accomplished this week. Some before pictures may still be possible in the areas she hasn't gotten to yet. And when it's finished it will be fantastic. This house was built in 1965 and much of it looks just like the day it was built. But not all of it. The shag carpeting covering the oak hardwood floors was one of the first things to go when we bought it from Dad and Mom 8 years ago. Thanks to all of you for giving Bigbaby moral support while I was gone. Ron PS I'll try and share some backpacking pictures in the next few days.

does your granite have to “match” your flooring?

Mont Blanc is a nightmare with stains and etching! read the stories on here. Taj is one of the harder quartzite. that would work. I also like your 2nd pic of the marble look quartz. very crisp and clean together. the Dakota would also work. BTW, you said you don't want the blue/green of the splash, but if you use a white glass, that's exactly what you'll get. the iron oxide in glass becomes very pronounced in the white tile. you can't see it with just a few of them, but once they're all installed, it's a very cool, greenish hue. You'd have to spend good money for crystal clear glass if you want a true white.

Does your dog sleep on your (or someone else's) bed?
Q
Comments (53)
Yes! Our 85 lb.lab starts his nightly routine on the bed with us, then a couple of hours later heads to his other bed on the floor or to "his" leather couch in the family room. He will then rejoin us around 5am. During the time he is off the bed, we are joined by our two cats who lay at the foot of the bed. All three provide snuggle service, heat warmers, back support and sometimes a back massage when my lab is in dreamland and gets all four paws moving. DH and I have been married 39 years and have never slept without a pet on the bed, with the exception of travel and neither of us sleeps very well.

Interesting thoughts about subcconscious 'matching'. I even saw that someone else had a dog named "Pip" -- like our last Westie.

My kitchen is cream and with 'money green' granite, but we have a Westie planter, treat container (former cookie jar) and doorstop -- and Eliot himself, or 'Captain Underfoot' as DH calls him.

I really enjoyed seeing the beautiful kitchens too. I saw one counter top that I absolutely love. I saved the picture to show my husband, he loves it too. I just have to find out what it is. I need to go back and get the name of the poster and see what they can tell me.
They have a gallery section of all the kitchens I can spend hours there.

My kitchen does not match my dog but I didn't pick this kitchen, or the dog for that matter, she picked us.

Edit to say the poster was fivefootzero on the dog match thread. If anyone knows that counter material let me know the specifics please. My best guess is that it's a soapstone but what one? Beautiful stone.

I loved that post too. And yes, we had a little dog but it was my son's. His girlfriend gave it to him while he was going through Audi training in Arizona. I think she wanted to make certain he had to be home every night after school to take care of the dog instead of hanging out with friends. :-) When he brought Lilly (the dog) home, I fell in love with her but it wasn't my dog. DS didn't want to be tied down to vet bills and taking care of a dog so he gave it to a friend who had another dog and kids for Lilly to play with. Everything went well until Lilly ran into the street and was hit by a car. I was heartbroken and still miss her so much.

No matches here. I didn't pick the kitchen, the dog, or the cat either. I did pick the last kitchen. The dog and the cat both matched there.
