I love this post Does your kitchen match your dog
Comments (8)I really enjoyed seeing the beautiful kitchens too. I saw one counter top that I absolutely love. I saved the picture to show my husband, he loves it too. I just have to find out what it is. I need to go back and get the name of the poster and see what they can tell me. They have a gallery section of all the kitchens I can spend hours there. My kitchen does not match my dog but I didn't pick this kitchen, or the dog for that matter, she picked us. Edit to say the poster was fivefootzero on the dog match thread. If anyone knows that counter material let me know the specifics please. My best guess is that it's a soapstone but what one? Beautiful stone. Comments (14)I like a mix. Our old house had ORB cabinet hardware, stainless plumbing and glass with polished nickel fixtures. It looked great together and was one of the reasons that the new owners (our new friends) loved the kitchen. This remodel will have PN, BN, and stainless. We're tying two rooms together and the FR has BN hardware where the kitchen will have PN with stainless appliances. gothaml, I look forward to seeing your lighting! I'm betting it's going to look wonderful....See MoreDoes your kitchen preference match your clothes?
Comments (10)I’ve realized that the kitchen I’m designing for our new house is very much a reflection of the colors I wish I could wear. I love layered, textured neutrals with cream, black, and all tones of brown. I still remember a cream cashmere coat one of the female characters on ER wore - I longed for that coat. Oh, and Rene Russo’s wardrobe from the Thomas Crown Affair. It seemed so unfair, as both women were redhead like me, but black and cream both make we look washed out and, quite frankly, ill. Sigh. Our kitchen design is for black leathered countertops, cream and natural white oak cabinets, and mid-brown hardwood floors. Basically, the clothes I wish I could wear in decor. And I tend to like clothes that are *almost* boring basics, but with little embellishments. A subtle ruffle here, a colored lining there, a touch of lace at the hem, etc., and I think that’s very much reflected in the styles we’re choosing, too. Much of the rest of the house is done in teals, blues, and greens, which are what I wear and love....See MoreDoes your fan need to match your flooring?
Comments (5)It's often better not to match in order to prevent the look of buying everything at a bargain outlet. In fact, different wood colors often flatter each other. Both of yours have enough red to be OK....See MoreK R
