I like the glass top with the sawhorses. I do think it looks clean and fresh especially with the curtains.

My office is smaller than yours: 9 1/2 x 9 1/2, with a corner cut out of that space plus a 2 x 4 closet with the doors off. Yet I have a 66 x 30 desk with a 24 x 48 return, 9 feet of 7' high bookcases, a couple of printers, shelves for printer supplies in the closet, a pedestal file, and room for two people. So I'm sure that you'll be able to fit a desk, console/hutch, ample equipment and supplies and extra seating with no problem.

What, in addition to the desk, a desk chair and computer, do you need in your office?

Just found another glass-top desk that looks closer to the one I'm looking at. I like it...just a little worried that's it going to take up the whole room,lol.
mmm...maybe I could have the glass top cut-back and sides smoothed out to 'shrink' it. My DH thinks I'm nuts:)!!

You're so right though...just need desk, chair and a cabinet. I'm also thinking about swithing to another spare smaller room...@10/x10, but has a cut-out that would fit my filing cabinet perfectly.

This weekend's project to de-clutter existing office...ugh!

I really love the glass one, but being the practical, work-avoiding person I am, I would probably buy the second one, whose sleek, refined profile I really like.

I have a glass dining table, and had a glass kitchen table, and the dust is bad enough, but the fingerprints are worse. I'm not sure I would want to either clean it every day or look at the fingerprints. (Maybe you're neater than I am!)

Definitely number 2! There's a lot of leg room underneath--plus it's just cool.

I like the glass-topped one for the sense of disappearing, but I would be driven crazy by the constant fingerprints and dust. Maybe if the glass were frosted it wouldn't be so bad.

Do you have an IKEA around? You can find some great tables and desks there, or buy separate legs and bases and tops to create your own.

We've got a happy medium of your #1 and #2, and from IKEA, so very reasonable ($230). Glass top reverse painted white (so you don't see all the wires, etc. beneath you) with chrome legs that cant out (I would think the sawhorse setup would be a bit tight). Also, height adjustable if you are one of those folks who likes sitting on a stool rather than in a chair.

We've had these for about two years now and they have been great.

I like #1, but it depends whether your feet would bump into that bar all the time. I like #3, but it looks like a real knee crusher.

West Elm also has a tripod desk with glass top and plenty of work space that you might like.

My daughter has a glass desk from Office Max; it's held up really well. Office Max has a bunch online

Her's is similar to this except the shelf on hers goes all the way across.

I currently have a Pottery Barn desk-very functional actually. Only reason I wanted new was that I wanted a high gloss white or glass...the PB one is Antique white. I know...I'm being lame:)

My DH has just switched jobs and will now also have a home office (OMG!!) so I was hoping I could hand him off mine...although maybe it's too girly in antique white for him. We're finishing the basement for him so thought it we could have a workspace/office down there and the PB desk would be great. We'll see...

OR~ maybe I could have the PB desk sprayed in high-gloss white. It's such a hard finish now, that I'm not sure if spraying would cause lots of paint chipping...

I have my laptop on a glass top table in the kitchen. Even worse than the fingerprints (and they can be annoying), I find the glass to be very cold to touch. I'm easily cold, and I guess my skin is too sensitive, so it might not be an issue for you. Just wanted to throw it out there for your consideration. I also hate granite counter-tops for that same reason. Too darn cold to the touch.

Re: glass tops...yeah, I am a little worried about fingerprints and dust...I'm not so great at keeping my desk tidy!

Just came back from Ikea...
I saw this desk that I really liked too(in high gloss white)...only problem is that it's not deep enough. I could do 2 desks back-to back (same idea as the other picture posted below) It's only 15 1/2'' deep...my current desk is 29'' deep. So... 2 Ikea desks or checking out more options!

So...I bought the desk today and a console/sideboard.
Next, looking at some wall cabinets for binders.
I ended up with desk # 2 (white top w/ chrome legs). I really liked that the glass version, but it was a little too big over the one I chose.
(72'' vs 54'')

Over the next couple of weeks, the room will be put together and voila-my project I was supposed to do last year will at least be done early this year:)!
(it's going to take me some time to clean up the piles of paper in my existing office...yikes...I'm dreading this part. The 'fun' part of shopping for new office stuff is almost done and the not so fun part of de-cluttering is here!) I'm going to need a martini for this!
