One of my daughter's best friends made this for a friend of mine who has a birthday today:

It says "Connie, arrrr you really 51?" I put the little beer cans at the X. She loves her beer so that's the perfect treasure. lol

Where's the KTer that had the DD that made those fabulous decorated cakes? She hasn't posted any pictures in quite awhile.

Wow, that's beautiful, Lydia. I love the colors. Is the scroll raised or does it just look like it in the picture. I bet it will be a big hit!

I have barely half of the second loaf left, and that's only because we haven't been home for two days! We came home last night an hour late to feed the bunnies, who were patiently waiting, or maybe not so patiently, as they were each sitting by their own dish waiting, and didn't move away! They usually come to the door of their house when we come home. Then we were gone all day again today, so none got eaten. Tomorrow will finish it for sure. I may try seedless blackberry jam, or maybe blueberries in it next time. Tami

Thanks, it was fun and hopefully they'll get lots of feedback on how yummy it tastes and want to do it again. Linda, those Challahs really are mini. I like to weigh my dough when I partition it so it's easier to get strands the same length and thickness or loaves the same size that bake uniformly so each one of those loaves weighs 1/4 pound. Most Challah loaves are sold as one or two pounders. Tracy, we will be freezing about 8 of the Challahs, everything else will be given away. Cloud, our Shalas manot baskets will have a grape juice box, yeast hamentaschen and cookie hamentaschen (made a different day), a mini loaf of challah and some pretzel, kisses and m&m candy thingies my kids and I will make when dh gets home from the store. Mustangs, you did great. Much better than I in fact, when I just used one giant bread dough recipe and you made three separate ones. You GO!! Lou, as great as it looks, last years "haul" for our friends may have been better. They got a pie dish of Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon rolls, unbaked and frozen with baking instructions so they could eat it whenever they wanted, cookie hamentaschen, mini bundt cakes (I'd just gotten a new pan lol) and home made toffee. If you really want a bite email me your addy and I'll pop some in the mail for you :) Annie, you too. And cooking iwth help is always a pleasure. I love it when my kids help. Jim, I love the traditions we pass down to our kids and cooking for holidays is part of it.

I Made Halloween Cards!!! Had To Share

Thank you all so much for your kind comments. It was fun to try and do something with my two sweet furkids on a Halloween card this year. Treat,com has been a good medium for me to work in creating holiday, birthday, anniversary, graduation, etc. cards for my (huge) family and friends these past 4 years. I like that it allows me to change the font and the wording on the cards that I like, as well as giving me the ability to add my own pics. For me, it's been incredibly creative. Thankfully, my Dobie, Ronin, is a very mellow, laid-back guy. And, although Tibetan Spaniels are very, very, very mellow dogs (as well as quiet/non-barky) they do tend to stress out in front of a camera sometimes (LOL). Anyhoo, my goal was to use whatever I could scrounge up here in our costume box and work with it as best I could. I used a number of safety pins and rubber bands to get things to fit right! DD has a huge wardrobe for her little Chloe, so I had a number of things to choose from. I chose the 50's Girl because, while I really enjoyed the movie "Grease", my friends and family all know that I couldn't stand the saccharine sweet song from it, "Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee". Thanks everyone....Diana this one isn't quite the same as the old recipe for the which I used to make, because the addition of 1 lb of quark turns it into more of a tangy cheesecake type of dessert, and lower in fat than if it were all whipped cream. I'm sure peppermint would also combine nicely with the chocolate. Your stacked version looks like a good party item too! Quark comes in a choice of fat content and is generally considered a healthy option to sour cream or all whipped cream. The one I used for this is made from semi-skinned milk with a 6% fat content. It's still rich I know, and I've never been one to promote overly-rich desserts, lol, as I generally keep away from them all. From searching the web it seems that a half & half combo of cream cheese and low fat ricotta or just all ricotta or creme fraiche would substitute for the quark if one doesn't find it in a shop. Lydia..are you talking about Steph (Jenni's DD)? Steph is like her Mom..she's great at anything she does!!! She's one of my friends on Facebook..so I see a lot of the cakes,etc. she makes!

The scroll isn't raised, but it does look like it in the photo.

Steph does do some really cute stuff... love those cake pops she's been making! The girl I am thinking about does a lot of the fondant icing and just some really exquisite stuff. I'll bet it's been a year since her mom has posted any pictures of the cakes.

Lydia, I know exactly what you're talking about with the cake photos. For the life of me, I can't remember who it was. Was it Gazania? I thought I'd saved a couple of the photos, but I can't find them, so I guess I'd only planned to save them...

That is a fine, fine piece of artwork. I'm really impressed. Whenever I decorate cakes, it looks like an intoxicated and angry four-year-old got ahold of the icing gun.
