Your co-worker is wrong. Crock pots are not the best way to cook a turkey breast. Try roasting it in the oven.

Any lean meat gets dry and chewey and stringy when cooked a long time. It doesn't get tenderer, it gets tougher.
Pork chops are also awful cooked in a crock pot...dry stringy and chewey.

Martina : Try Ann T's way or if you like Stuffing ,set them in a throw away Alluminum Pie plate.
Bend the sides up a little to form an oval shape, place the Stuffing under the Breasts and
place them in a Roasting pan, with a cup of water

You can use Skewers or tie them, to keep the breasts in place.
Rub the breasts with veg oil and sprinkle with seasoning.

I cook them in a 350 degree oven to an inside temp of 175 degree.
Use Alluminum Foil to cover if they are getting too brown.

Actually, you CAN cook a turkey breast in a crock pot, but as a pulled pork barbeque, i.e. using a turkey breast as a substitute for pork. My former workmate does this a lot and it's very good.

I don't see the recipe here on my computer but I do have a printed copy. If you are cutting back on fat, it's a great sub for Carolina style barbeque. Maureen

Thanks everyone....Ann, I too prefer roasting a turkey, but I am single now so I am trying to cook a meat that I can cook easily while I'm at work and can eat on for a few days. add a veggie and dinner is done. thus the crock pot. I'll do some more digging on the forums. Thanks again...

Martina there are lots of great meals you can do in the crock pot but Turkey really isn't one of them. It's way to lean.

How about meatballs, cabbage rolls, pulled pork, beef dip, chile, etc.

Another good idea is spaghetti sauce. You can have it one night for spaghetti and then use it for a lasagna or throw it in the freezer for a quick dinner another time.
