I didn't have hardware on my kitchen cabinets(or drawers) for about 20 years. I kind of liked the "clean" look on the fronts.

I don't have any hardware either. Neither does my youngest daughter. It makes the door and drawers easier to clean. They hollow out a grove underneath for easy opening. We don't have 2 sinks in the bathrooms, although I think I'd love it if we did!!

It is often the case on cupboards in our area in newer homes ...no hardware is nice...They have a little lip that you use to open them with...

The bathroom thing is usually done just in the Master bath and while I am rarely in the bathroom at the same time as my DH, we have separate sinks and it's nice that way....And there is the rare occasion that we are using the area together ...But it is particularly good if you have a working couple that need to get ready for work. I think it is really just a convenience...My side I have a few toiletries that I use, hair spray, mousse that kind of thing at my sink area and my husband has his electric razor plugged in on his side as will as his beard trimmer etc etc. I don't like a lot of clutter on the sinks but it's nice to have my own side. Before we moved, we each had our own bathroom...that was nice too.

Yes, the hardware-less cabinets are quite common here. Mine are like that.

I don't have double sinks in my house, but yes... 2 sinks are pretty common here too.

Only one sink in the bathroom. I'd rather have two bathrooms than two sinks! LOL We only have one BR and I remember the days of 3 kids getting ready for school!

When our house was built there was no hardware on the kitchen cabinets. It was in a new subdivision and was already built when we put a contract on it. The lady selling in the subdivision was the builder's sister and the woman who was supervisor over the actual building was another sister of the builder. I becamse pretty good friends with the sisters. One day we stopped by the house to do some measuring and noticed there was hardware on the cabinets. It's pretty hardware and I really like it. The sisters said they did it for me after I mentioned how naked the cabinets look without hardware.

I did request that we have only one sick in the master bath and they did that, but where the other sink would have been is a counter top with an open hole underneath it where a fair lady could sit on her dressing stool and scoot right up closer to the mirror. I'm not a fair lady. I'm a woman who likes a lot of storage room and would have much rather had drawer or doors underneath. That's on my never ending to do list, but isn't all that high in priority.

My house was built in the 70s when knobs and handles were common. They did eliminate them and I think it was a cost saving move and then they tried to claim it was "stylish". Doesn't bother me whether they have handles or not.

Double sink never made a lot of sense except that each would have their own to leave stuff at, but some are so paranoid about having anything out anyway that it defeats the purpose.

For a while they started building houses with the bathtub and toilet separated from the sink and in some cases an extra sink in there too. This made more sense to me. One could shower while the other brushes teeth, shaves or whatever. Plus it keeps the sink cleaner from bacteria from the toilet.

I love hardware on cabinet doors! Kinda like jewelry, IMHO.

I'm not a fan of two sinks...but DH insisted when we built this house. It just means I have two to clean instead of one. *sigh*

I California, we have two sink bathrooms a lot. Definitely in the Master bath or buyers would complain. Often in the "hall bathroom" for the kids to get ready for school at the same time. Sometimes these are Jack and Jill bathroms. When DH and I both worked, we needed to get ready at the same time, and double sinks were great. Same for getting ready to go out at the same time.

DD has a friend who was one of those house hunters on the show. They had actually already moved into their new house when the show contacted them. The cameramen had already shot two other houses, and they asked her to make some kind of comment for each shot as if she were looking at that house. These were houses she had never looked at. Then they showed her house as the final selection. Must have emptied rooms and cupboards to do that shoot, not sure.

I know many kitchens where the cabinet hinges are installed inside and there are no handles, you just reach below the doors to open them. A clean minimalist look. I have no double sinks. We share one in the bathroom. It works for us.

I think those shows you see primarily film in California. That is just one state out of 50.....

All of the houses in our area were built in the 80s. We've been in ours since 1981 and didn't have pulls on our cabinets and drawers until last year when we did a complete kitchen remodel.

Our master bath has two sinks, one of which was shut off and has never been used in the 28 years we've lived in the house. I would much rather have had more storage or counter space.

sheilajoyce, the buyers on House Hunters actually go to all of the houses. I wonder how the couple you mention could have gotten away with not seeing the other houses?

Another thing on that show, the couples often say, "Oh, it's a small bathroom." What in the world do you need a large bathroom for? Especially if there are multiple bathrooms in the house. It's not as if one entertains friend in the bathroom..LOL

I also noticed that most of the houses don't have any woodwork around the windows. I guess it looks strange to me because around here (eastern PA), most all of the houses do have them. They look unfinished without the woodwork.

Unfinished windows--just more cheap construction. Large master bathrooms are the expected situation here in southern California and will hurt your sales situation if the master bath is small. Ditto hall bath. Now the powder room can be small, but it had better be posh.

All I know is what DD told me. They did a shoot after they moved into their house. Maybe the producers wanted to get one more area show before they packed up and were willing to do a rush job like this. Don't know.

Just like that redecorating show where they show how to set up a room using only furniture and accessories you already own. Some good lessons can be learned watching this show. But it is so obvious that they get the owners to buy a certain color of throw pillows and put them on a bed so that they can "shop the bedroom" for the exact color of finishing touches they need. Happens too often.

I think the hardware thing is personal preference, I prefer knobs and handles, less broken nails that way from slipping off a groove.

I wish we had 2 sinks in our bath sometimes, inevitibly if I am in a hurry, I'll go into the bath to get ready and find Woody just starting to shave and clean up at the same time in our only sink. It annoys me to me to have scoot around him to do this and that so I find some other way to get ready that doesn't require the bathroom. I wouldn't like to give up my stack of drawers, though, in order to get another sink. I can just see how having 2 sinks would be very nice at times.

Our old house: two bathrooms, two sinks. I only have to clean one..the other is his job. Also the toilet. And the shower. And the floor. In HIS bathroom, which is the MAN bathroom.

We have no hardware on our cabinet doors, and I love it. There are grooves in the top and bottom of each door to open with one's fingertips. No broken nails from handles, no hard-to-clean-around knobs. I need to wash down the whole kitchen, now that I think about it.
