Trash pullout and sink run...If the trash pullout in the Cleanup Zone run (i.e., the main sink & DW run) will only hold one bin, I would consider making it 12" or 15" and adding the "extra" 3" to 6" to the cabinet on the left. Depending on how much cutlery you have, 20" may not be wide enough. Ours is 24" wide and that's the minimum I would go to be able to separate out the dinner forks, salad forks, soup spoons, teaspoons, knives, serving spoons, serving forks, and small ladles (as an example). Besides, the more space you have in your other cabinets, the more and more varied items you can store in them! Here is ours: We actually have more forks & spoons in it; this is what wasn't in the DW at the time! The back holds the things we didn't have room for...butter knives, iced tea spoons, seafood forks, pie server, non-wood handled steak knives, etc. Our drawer height is 3-1/4" and is plenty tall/deep enough. Range cabinets...I'm assuming you already have those? If not, consider making the cabinet to the left of the range 24" instead of 18"...it not only will give you more work and landing space, but it will also give the Cooking Zone a little more protection from casual kitchen traffic and people in the Cleanup Zone. Just as an fyi...here is my 4-drawer stack. It holds, top to bottom, flatware/cutlery, plastic bags & wraps, extensions cords & misc electrical-related items, and bread. (The dimensions of the drawers are listed above.) Note: Not all semi-custom cabinets require you to use 3" increments...my semi-custom line had a 31.5" tall oven cabinet...at least there was no upcharge for the size, so I'm assuming it was an available cabinet size.

We're in the process of painting our finished basement Revere Pewter with Simply White trim. It looks terrific so far. It reads a warm grey in our house so I'm not sure I would pair it with a true grey, but I have two friends with Revere Pewter living rooms and theirs look a little cooler so I could see it working well in the right lighting.

Thank you Patricia. I'm trying to update a 1990's home, and will be painting the oak doors & trim a dark color - gray? black? Unlike other paint colors, the BM website did not list coordinating colors for Harwood Putty. An internet search also produced nothing, so just don't know how to select a paint color that will go well with this wall color. And good to know the bedroom and laundry room can be treated separately.

Not necessarily better. Just different. And it depends. The BenM Color Preview deck is a collection of color strings. Each strip started with a hue parent and then 6 child colors were created by reducing the formula in uniform increments. The majority of the strips in the fandeck are different values of colors from the same hue family and same (ish) chroma. Chroma being how grayed or vivid the color is. The Color Preview fandeck is unique because it is the only one out there from common, major brands that's a collection of color strings. People think every fandeck is like Preview, color strings on each strip, but they're not. In most brands, you'll find colors from different hue families on the same strip and the arrangement of value and chroma is not perceptually uniform. The Classic Colors collection was compiled and arranged by the BenM color director at the time it was developed. Which means the arrangement of colors on the strips is purely subjective. Which is why there's no rhyme or reason to the order of the colors on strips or the fandeck itself. It really depends on the project. What region, interior or exterior... it just depends... either one or both collections might be useful. Regional color is probably the biggest consideration as far as which fandeck you should reach for first. One of my least favorite "color tips" is that only 20% of the colors in any fandeck are "good" colors and no one uses the other 80%. While specifying color nationally and internationally I quickly learned WHY a fandeck has over 3,000 colors. Different colors are ideal for different regions. The % of colors that are ideal for the light and seasons in the U.S. Midwest aren't necessarily the same colors that are ideal for the Southwest region, for example. Most people only use the 20% of a collection that's well-suited to where they live.
