Depends on how anxious you are, lol. I use it primarily for the free 2 day shipping because I hate waiting a week or more for items to arrive. With the fast shipping, I cut down considerably on trips around town to the drugstore, etc which saves me time and money. I've had things that I ordered at 3pm that afternoon show up by noon the next day, for free. Plus you can upgrade to overnight shipping for only $3.99 an item, which is great for forgotten birthdays and such.

I think you can try it free for a while. If you use Amazon a lot, it's totally worth it to me. But if you barely use it, it's probably not worth it.

I hate shopping (in stores). We have lousy shopping. I like to read reviews. So Amazon Prime pays off for me. I only purchase items that are AmazonPrime eligible. There is a filter for it on the left side of the page.

Lots of books you can borrow for free if you have a Kindle.

I sent an invitation yesterday to youngest dd to share in my Amazon Prime for free (the free 2-days shipping). This was a new one on me.

I know you can stream movies for free, but I haven't tried that feature.

The downside of it for me is that although when you specify their free shipping it states that the item will take 5-7 days to arrive, my experience has been that the item usually arrives in two days anyway.

Ummm.... that is not amazon Prime; that's super saver shipping.

Don't you get to read a lot of books free? I don't think Canadians can join or I sure would. A lot of books I end up buying are free for Primie users.

I joined for the two-day free shipping, although there have been many times when the item comes the next day!

What I also like about Prime is that you can do a $3.99 next day delivery, if you really need it the next day.

I think you are limited to borrowing one book a month. For me, Prime is worth it. I watch tv series that I never saw before, and movies, series that shed on PBS, shows/movies from Acorn are favorites.

What I meant is it seems the biggest advantage would be "two-day free shipping" however since their super saver free shipping nearly always arrives (for me) in two days anyway, it wouldn't be much of an advantage.

It definitely depends on the individual. I have an Amazon credit card that I use for everything, and Amazon is my #1 place to shop. But joining Prime never seemed to make much sense for me. Like Bob, my Super-Saver shipped packages arrive very quickly most of the time. My orders always total over $25, so shipping is always free. I stream Netflix, so I don't need Amazon's movies and shows. I'll spend my $79 on something else. ;-)

I've linked an article below that lays out the perks. Since I mostly read ebooks these days, I gave up my Barnes & Noble discount card. So, that annual savings makes Amazon Prime membership a bit more budget worthy. I love the free streaming videos and two-day delivery on items that I would have to make special trips to purchase. Also, if your state is one where Amazon doesn't charge sales tax, you get an automatic savings there from buying local.

we have had Amazon Prime from the start and so far we've been renewing under DH who was a graduate student till last May. We buy stuff every single week there! This past Christmas I got all of my niece & nephews gifts there, in Feb all of my DH's gifts, his Valentine's Day gifts etc... On a weekly basis we get things like dental chips for our furkids, half off from what our vet charges + free shipping and get it in 2 days. I use it at work for tech toys for my sales people. Christmas 2011 we got a HUGE home theater system from Amazon at an even better price than I could find in stores even on Black Friday.

DH does use the movie/TV benefits on his tablets too...I get some ebooks but mostly we shop there for everything we can ~ liz

Joined Amazon prime this year and have used it quite a bit already.

I also have a Kindle and a ROKU so can use the books and movies. So far it has been great. We'll see how it goes for the rest of the year.

You can try it for free for 30 days. That's what I did. At the end of 30 days, I cancelled it. I'm glad they do a 30 day free trial period.For me, it just wouldn't pay to have it but I can see how others might like it.
