Our meeting at Moffitt

First, thank all of you for your prayers. It was a long day,but I am glad that we went. My BIL drove us and my daughter Lisa went with us.We were very impressed with all of the people that we saw and the facility. The doctor was wonderful. The first thing that he suggested was that we get radiation done right away on the right hip where he had the partial hip replacement We will be working with our Oncologist. He said that we should stay on the Chemo that we are on for right now because he didn't have time to review all of the scans that we took with us. He said that Chemo might help stop the places where it has been seen but the hip needs the radiation to make sure that it targets that area. We will be going to our Cancer Center on Monday for weekly bloodwork and try to make an appointment with our Radiologist. Thank you again for just listening and praying and being there for me. You all mean a lot to me.

I'm glad your appointment went so well. I've been thinking of your family. I hate for anyone to have to go through cancer and that most certainly includes the family. You sound so much more hopeful today and that's a good thing. Now enjoy your weekend. Don't know about your weather down there but ours is pretty lousy today!

Hi Sandie,

I'm thankful that you had a fruitful visit at the facility, are pleased with the doctor, and came away with a sense of accomplishment .. in good spirits, given the circumstances.

I hope that you have good results in the coming days, as well.

I'm sending good thoughts to all of you, with hopes that the health people may be able to find all of the problems and deal with them well.

And offering some prayers on your behalf.

I remember Spike, also. Live in a rented farmhouse a couple of miles from the freeway between Detroit/Windsor and Toronto, about half way between. Have had a garden for several years - biggest ever, this year ... over 3/4 of a mile of rows ... and the weeds are succeeding in getting ahead of me. Pleased to be in quite good health at over 80: son 50 nearby and daughter closing in on it, who, having dual ciizenship, has lived in Phoenix a couple of times over the past 15 years or so and now lives mostly with her partner who operates a motorcyle rental franchise on Cozumel, off the Mexican coast. Lavon, when I was about 7 years old, I had a goat that pulled a cart. My father had told me about them and I got a goat, raised him, and my father made a cart for him. Of course, male goats...that haven't been neutered...do something that most people would find unpleasant. :) So when we ended up giving him to a man who had a lot of goats, and I got a horse. When I was in high school, a boyfriend gave me a Swiss Alpine...Alpine Swiss (?), named Ozark Mirandy, and I had her several years but she was killed by dogs. I had some other goats and a coyote attacked one and had to have her leg amputated. She did well on three legs, but later was also killed by dogs. I had a lot of trouble with dogs after my goats, so haven't had any goats in years, but I always enjoyed them. We had one Spanish buck though that was mean, and got in the stall with one of my horses and gored him very badly. That goat would stand in the barn and repeatedly butt his head into one of the heavy timber uprights...over and over. If he had a brain, I guess it was very addled after that.

Annztoo - we found Poppie through one of our local rescues - I've had my eye on her for several weeks and somehow just KNEW she was our baby! Socks- Thank you!! we all love our yard and pool although the "kids" don't like to swim but do a great job playing lifeguard when we are in. We lost our sweet 15 1/2 year old Tasha in July and Sam ( and us) took it really hard. We knew we couldn't wait too long to find him a buddy and it has been SOOO good for him. He lost his precious sister and gained a much adored girlfriend ( grin) He loves to nibble on her - we call it Poppie on the cob and she loves it too.

What a cute kitten. Sometimes I miss having a cat around. Speaking of Hide and Seek, a ripple rug pretty much saved my life (or at least my legs) when I had my daughter’s cat for a couple of weeks. I don’t think he likes me most of the time, so he would attack my legs and bite through the jeans. Wearing him out with that rug helped. Of course it would be a lot cheaper to make it yourself with some carpet and Velcro. A lot of fun for them.

Sandie, such a terrible ordeal to have to go through. I hope your husband is feeling a bit hopeful and is comfortable with his doctor. Take care of yourself so that you have the stamina you will need.

So glad things went well for you at Moffitt. The doctor sounds wonderful. Glad you liked him. That's so important. I'm sure it's nice to have so much family support, too. Good thoughts and prayers continue for the entire family.
