Those goats are really cute. We had a goat for Amber when she was growing up. She was brown and white and we named her Anni as she was an orphan. My husband and I both had goats growing up on farms.

His giclee prints have increased in his studio. But I find it very hard to believe that peoplea re going to continue paying an escalating price for an open edition of a print. People like Gordon and Arvid and Kincaid and Moss and Reese and a host of others are making their money by selling "artist approved, and signed and numbered" prints. They are taking their art and making it into a "collectable"...and unless the merit as art is there and holds out, 20 years from now someone will be posting on a board like this and asking "Does anyone recognize this picture?". They are creating a market by making a limited edition. I would much rather have a fine quality Andrew Wyeth print, even though they are contuing to be sold. Linda C

Yay! So exciting to start working on the new home! We just signed the contract with our builder last week, and are in the midst of negotiating our land price with the seller. I'm so excited about the process. Good luck to you!

Steve, I've had amazingly productive hives, but they do not last. I think besides all the problems with pesticides and mites, the queen genetics are poor. Everyone gets their bees from the same sources, which have been overbred. Because of the mites, we have no feral bees to provide new stock...anyways, I'm buying a pack to replace the one I lost this winter. My other hive is going strong though! If the citrus happen to be blooming on a warm day in winter, I'll drag them out and the bees go crazy!

They just wanted their picture taken! How cute they are.

Are they pets, or do you milk them.

I had a goat decades ago. It got in the house and pulled a map off the wall. Naughty!

They're beautiful! What do you do with them?

Thanks ! They are all just pets so far, 3 girls and 1 boy, but he has been fixed. Maybe next year I will have one of the girls bred, but then I would just want to keep all the babies !
Something about them I just love, especially the sounds they make !

alisande.....I have to smile as my MIL's favorite thing to say to us is "What good are they" ? She says that about all our animals, and I just have to answer her with "they make me happy"
She is NOT an animal person !

I have two goats and they look similar to yours. They are pets too. I love them to death. They are just like dogs - they follow me everywhere. Gosh mine are about 9 years old now. They are brothers.

angela its nice to meet other "goat" people !

They are so cute! When I was a small girl, we had nanny and billy and baby goats - they were pets and SO MUCH fun! Thanks for the memories.

how would you like these goats?..........lol

Oh gosh!! I want a couple of goats so much! We had them when I was growing up, they were so fun!

    Hello Goats!!

They sure are cute. I remember being about 10 years old and visiting the goats at the zoo. I had my little container of goat feed to feed them and boy they were greedy. They attacked me to get to the food. My brother still laughs about that to this day.

I still like goats... I'm just a little more cautious around them now. :-)

The link to the Crazy goats.....wow that is amazing how they can climb on the side of the mountain ! I found one of mine on top of my washing machine and I thought that was really something ! ( washer and dryer are outside )

How precious. They are posing perfectly for the photo opp!

Awwww, aren't they the cutest! I'd love to hear them "talk" and give them a hug. :)

Lavon, I agree with you...animals can make us happy.

Aww, Lavon. I love it that you have them because they make you happy!

I remember seeing a video about "fainting goats" on tv a couple years ago. They'd get so excited, and just fall over on their side. A couple seconds later, they'd be up and running again.

I was out to see a client a few years ago and he was from Holland, and they raise and milk a lot of goats there.
He had a goat farm and they were dwarf goats, and also a breed with teeny ears. French, I think. He showed me his barn and they were absolutely adorable.

What struck me, was because they were miniature, he had a trough cut into the barn floor, where HE would walk along and be the right height for milking. They were on the barn floor and he was lower. Very cool.

Dang! I want so bad to go the Vet's office one day and see someone waiting with their male goat to be neutered. LOL

    They are so darned cute!

I also saw the fainting goat video. Thought it was mean that they would try to startle the animals. :(

Oh I love Goats! Always thought I'd love to have one.
    Your guys are so cute!

We have had goats off and on over the years. They are really funny creatures. When my kids were young DH and his DD went fishing every year near Del Rio,TX.One summer the Amistad Dam had just been completed and the lake was filling up.They were fishing in the lake and saw a tiny goat on a little island in the water. He was standing at the edge of the water bleating loudly and there wasn't another animal in sight. They figured mamma goat was around somewhere, but he was still there the next day. They looked for mamma but didn't find her so they loaded the little baby in the boat and brought him home.We lived in town and really weren't suppose to have goats but we put him in the back yard wih the minature white poodle we had. They looked a lot alike. He was an Angora and had curly hair, like the poodle,so we figured nobody would notice he wasn't a dog too.LOL He was only a few weeks old when we got him but he grew up fast.He was about the size of a small shetland pony.I think he actually thought he was a dog.He played with the dog and came in the house until he got too big.The kids played volley ball with him. They would throw the ball and he would butt it back to them with his head.My son was about 4 at the time and was scared of Billy(Real original name huh?)and Billy knew it.Every time DS would go outside Billy would act like he was going to chase him and DS would run screaming into the house.I think Billy just liked to antagonize him!LOL Our trash cans were outside the fence in the back and as soon as Billy heard the trash truck turn into the alley a block down he would go jump up on the fence with his front feet and wait. When the guys picked up the cans they would talk to him and he would "talk" back to them. Our neighbor behind us loved animals and when she was in her back yard or emptying her trash she would carry on a conversation with him too and sometimes bring him an apple or some other treat.I'm surprised nobody ever turned us in for having him but we had him for about 3 years. He finally got so big and a little agressive when he reached his "manhood" we had to get rid of him.He went to a rancher we knew that raised sheep.A lady that walked her son to the school nearby asked me one day if she could have some of his hair. She made some kind of art with it and would trim some off every now and then.We really missed him when he was gone and I still think of all his funny antics.

    Your goats are really cute!

My uncle raised goats cause my cousins were allergic to cows milk. That was oh so long ago

Oh, I love the fact that you're keeping them as pets! When we first moved to our old farm I thought about having goats and using the milk. But then I realized I'd have to deal with the babies, which are every bit as cute as puppies, and I couldn't see myself selling them. So that ended that idea.

I have really enjoyed all the goat stories everyone has shared today !
alisande......I think a new born goat is one of the cutest babies there is, they are up and walking and wagging their tail in no time, and they have the tiniest little hooves.
Yes, I am afraid I would want to keep all the babies too.
I had some milking goats many years ago, and its hard work to get them milked twice a day. I told my boys they would grown horns if they drank it, and they were always checking each other's head, looking to see if it was true ! LOL

don't know what it is, but goats are so cute...do they follow you around?

When I was in grade school, I had a classmate who had a goat. It was fun to go to her house and see the goat. We liked to stand with our backs to the billy goat and he would butt our butts.

    Awww! Tall, taller, tallest! LOL

I love goats too. Some day I will have goats, chickens, and ducks.

A few years ago I convinced DH to go look at a hobby farm that was for sale, complete with some planted fields and a small greenhouse and some animals.

We toured the house and the barn, the greenhouse and some other out buildings. I think I almost had DH convinced that we could buy it, but when we went to leave there was a very large billy goat (complete with curved horns LOL) standing on the hood of our car.

Just standing there, hanging out, taking a good look around.

Yeah. DH didn't find it amusing, nor cute ;)

A local woman raises goats and used to make and sell goat milk soap at the local farmer's markets....but she decided it was more fun to take them to goat shows. I used to visit her and the goats when I needed the soap or lotion and had missed the farmer's market.
When we visited Glacier National Park we stopped at a place called Goat Lick......the rocks, I guess, are salty and the goats love it there. I took some pictures of them climbing up and down the steep cliffs. But the only one I saved is of them at the top of the cliff...taken with a 10x telephoto lens across the river.
    Here is one I took:

Lavon, when I was about 7 years old, I had a goat that pulled a cart. My father had told me about them and I got a goat, raised him, and my father made a cart for him. Of course, male goats...that haven't been neutered...do something that most people would find unpleasant. :) So when we ended up giving him to a man who had a lot of goats, and I got a horse.

When I was in high school, a boyfriend gave me a Swiss Alpine...Alpine Swiss (?), named Ozark Mirandy, and I had her several years but she was killed by dogs. I had some other goats and a coyote attacked one and had to have her leg amputated. She did well on three legs, but later was also killed by dogs. I had a lot of trouble with dogs after my goats, so haven't had any goats in years, but I always enjoyed them. We had one Spanish buck though that
was mean, and got in the stall with one of my horses and gored him very badly. That goat would stand in the barn and repeatedly butt his head into one of the heavy timber uprights...over and over. If he had a brain, I guess it was very addled after that.

I love goats. You can milk them, and then make cheese!

I love how the litte guy is up on a crate so he can "see", too. They love to climb up on things, but I bet you already know that!

You know these guys are the sweetest things I've seen all day. I have always wanted goats. I just love them and the babies are precious. I used to run by a farm and always stopped and petted the goats. They are so inquisitive and one spring there were two dear babies. I wanted to kidnap one.
