I know that little round chair is a mess ... in being that the fabric is sooo close to the area rug ( that was an accident)... it probably should get re upholstered.. but my family has fallen in love with it and it's sooo comfy!

Diva, I was on the computer until the wee hours last night, and this is the first time I have seen your post. Also, the only pix I can see is the first one. Perhaps there is a problem with the posting?

I think we looked at drapery a while back - I would not do a solid, but something with some print and texture for the window. I guess you have given up on hanging the panel by knobs? If so, I can see it hung below the arched part of the window on straight rods.

With only the one pix to look at, I can't comment on the furniture arrangement or the table situation.

There is no rule and no reason to get rid of faux plants.

I can not find any textured or patterned fabric ( and trust me I've looked) that goes with that danged area rug! I'm considering a sagy green.. but for now.. and just to get something up on the window I think I will just put the rod down low and use the red. I can do this for under $100 believe it or not. This way I can take my time and not get something I will end up being unhappy with.

I like your red drapes. I would hang them straight across just under the top windows, leaving them open. Then pull them at a soft angle with a tieback. They'll be great and will work with all of your colors. I think your furniture arrangement in the seating area is fine. I'm confused about the dining area. Your use of the accent wall for the piano/instruments looks great, but the chandelier sort of looks like it needs a table under it. I can see that you have opted for another dining space by the window, and that makes sense if you want to keep your piano there. If it were mine I'd look at another lighting plan in that area, since the chandelier makes me wonder what happened to the dining room table that should be under it. Looks like a fun room that you and your guests will enjoy.

jjam.. yes lighting is next! I am looking for something that doesn't scream " put a table under me!" We have chosen to use this space for a music/sitting room since the formal dining table didn't get used but once or twice a year.

Les, I found this fabric yesterday {{!gwi}} But thought it was too busy.... I really like the colors as it has all the colors in the scheme.. ( red is a tad too rusty tho).... What do you think?

and yes.. If I were to put the fabric up high I would do tabs... not how it's pictured. I just did that to see and feel what it would be like.

This is my observation:
After looking at the aerial shot of the whole room, I think the print you are showing on the red chair is too busy.

I know you have been looking for fabric for a long time. Have you tried Calico Corners? Do you have a fabirc district? Have you taken a seat cushion from the print chair with you?

If you can't find a texture, why not pick a solid with texture a couple of shades darker than the walls or you can pick up the green in a textured solid. I would stay away from red. It's too much red for the room.

The rug is cool and so is the print chair. Accessorize with pillows using other colors from those prints.
