Losing the love of my life (sorry long)

We have been married 17 years,My husband and I had a disagreement a few weeks back about his brother who recently left his wife of 27 years to hook up with my hubby's ex-girlfriend.I don't care about the fact that my hubby dated this girl but we have been together for over 20 years and she caused alot of pain for me,I got pregnant with our first baby and she had sent him a love letter which I found caused a fight he left, his family convinced him I wasn't pregnant and finally 3 months later we finally work it out after I have been told my baby is dead hubby watched me lose the baby he knows I was being honest (too little too late)during this time my hubby (bf at the time)dated someone else and she gave him his first born which I helped support for 18 years.Anyways there was many things she caused lots of trouble and I am not willing to open that can of worms.I said she is not welcome in our home but I will be polite at family functions.Hubby and his brother are not real close but he is really ticked off I feel that my feelings should count first now this has snowballed and he says he doesn't know if he wants to stay married,I am devastated.I have always stood by him. He had an affair in his hometown when we were married 6 years I stayed we worked through it,last year his father and step mom stayed with us for 5 months it was hell for me I stayed,now he wants to go see Dad (2Days min. away)in the town he had the affair to work through his feelings it is a small town where marriage means nothing I do not believe I can stay if this is what he is going to do.We were happy (at least I thought) when his affair happened now we aren't and he thinks I can trust him not to cheat,don't believe for a minute that I can.All I do is cry.We still have 3 kids at home and 1 gone with a new grandson,I do not for a minute want our family torn apart.Any advice welcome...please

Well,I'm sorry to hear about your problems turkeytrott. I'm not really sure I understand why your husband wants to leave though...because his brother married his ex? How does that effect his relationship with you exactly? Did he have an affair with the ex girlfriend that the brother married?
Also,why does he suddenly want to go see his dad?

I am a little nervous each time but I do it. One time I was hijacked sort of. I was in the airplane in Atlanta. Everything seeemed OK. But I did notice that there seemed to be an extra stewardess. On the way down there had been two. There were three on that flight. One headed for the rear of the plane. A couple of meinutes later the other two scurried back. Then one of them went to the pilots cabin and there was a lot of whispering. The pliot stode determidely back. A couple of minutes later the pilot came on the intercom and said he was sorry there would be a slight delay. Two of the stewardesses started handing out free drinks. Two more stewardessses came on and headed for the back of the plane. About then my seatmate poked me and said, "Look out there! What the he!! is going on?!!" There were police cars parked all around the plane with their lights flashing. I scrunched down in my seat as far as I possibly could. I was trying to figure out if it was possible to wedge a person of my girth under the seat. (No way, really.) The pilot came on and said they were experiencing some minor difficulties and if they were not resolved in five minutes we would have to get off and would be put on other flights. A couple minutes later three stewdardesses came from the back of the plane one of whom was crying hysterically and shouting "I wanna go home!" Almost immediately the pilot came on and said "we are cleared for take off please make sure your seatbelts are securely fastened, We are starting a little late but I think I can make up a lot of the time in flight." The stewardess then explained that the other stewardess had been told for the third time that week that she had to work a double shift. The Overtime stewardess refused and locked herself in the bathroom. Of course the plane is not allowed to take off with someone in the bathroom. The amazing thing is we started 45 minutes late but we arrived only five minutes late. We hurtled down that runway and suddenly I new what astronauts feel like as we blasted into the sky. No one came on to tell us at exactly what speed we were traveling, but I promise it was not slow. It makes you wonder how short flights could be if they really tried their hardest, but I suppose it is just as well they do not.

I also agonized over my appliance decisions, both during our recently completed kitchen renovation and another one we did at our previous home, about 6 years ago. Last renovation (6 yrs ago), I felt certain that I wanted the most powerful, simplest all-gas range I could find, in the truest commercial style possible (for the best price, of course)! I chose the DCS all-gas 36" 6 burner range. While I liked the high heat of the range and some of its other features, it gave me many problems, similar to those that have been detailed on this forum. For our most recent kitchen renovation, I needed a 48" range, and decided to go with the GE Monogram dual fuel. I had somewhat low expectations, or at least, I knew not to get as excited as I was during my prior renovation, only to be let down like last time. I had started to think that all higher end appliances were finnicky and any one of them is bound to have issues. Believe it or not, the GE Monogram has greatly exceeded my expectations and is really wonderfully and surprisingly great. It has even better burner control from super high high to super low simmer than the DCS. The burners work beautifully and never give me that click, click, clicking during ignition. The burner flame does not go around my small pots, as it did w/the DCS. The gliding racks in the oven are a joy, and the oven (I've used it mostly with the convection feature) roasts and bakes everything evenly and to perfection (in my DCS, this was a problem as things came out unevenly). The only slight negative is that the electric coils for the broiler are not as awesome as the infrared that the DCS used for the broiler, but that doesn't matter much for me because I live in So. Cal, and we grill instead of broil most of the time. This is just a wonderful piece of equipment, and I'm delighted with how it performs. It was much less expensive than the other high end dual fuel ranges (around $7800), so I feel like it's a bargain for what you get (comparatively) and I don't know why more people who love to cook haven't discovered it. Like you, I wondered why I couldn't find more reports about it before I purchased it. Please keep in mind that I've only owned it for a little over a month, but I have to report that I really love it so far (and so does my husband and my daughter, who both cook almost as much as I do). I don't think the thyroid is an issue, but I would be concerned about the kidneys. With the BUN and creatinine as high as they are, and the USG as low as it is, I'd be very concerned with CRF, not so much hyperT4. We see decreased USG at 66% kidney function lost; nothing is seen in blood values until 75% of kidney function is lost. Sounds like your girl is somewhere between 66% and 75% kidney function lost. Some things to check: Ultrasound abdomen to take a look at kidney structure especially. Not uncommon to see small fibrotic kidneys. But if the kidneys were enlarged (as with renal lymphoma for example) you'd want to know that for treatment and/or prognosis. Ultrasound could also pick up bladder stones, kidney stones, and other causes of decreased USG if present. Urine culture and sensitivity: not likely to show an infection but wouldn't it be nice if a simple course of antibiotics cured her? Urine protein to creatinine ratio: excess protein in the urine speeds the process of chronic renal failure, but there are many strategies that decrease proteinuria. Blood pressure measurement: another consequence of kidney disease that causes more damage and speeds the process. Also there are medications to control blood pressure. That's what I would recommend for my patients in the same situation.

I too don't really understand what the problem is. He's wanting to go visit his dad in a town he had an affair in years ago... Is he seriously thinking about hooking up again with his mistress there or what?

I don't know, but he doesn't really sound like all that much of a gem to me anyway. I'd let him go; doesn't really sound like you'd be loosing all that much anyway. If he wants to cheat, he's going to; either trust him, learn to live with it, or leave him.

He sounds life a selfish, insensitive twit. Your feelings should come first.

You don't have to allow anyone in your house that you don't want there. It's your home afterall.

If he can't deal with that, it's his problem. What more do you have to do to prove you're a devoted wife?

You could probably do much better, let him go. Find something better and more stable in your life.

It's a real kick in the gut to say to you, he isn't sure he wants to stay married, because of this realtionship over your brother-in-law and the ex-gf. How does he expect you to feel?

I'd let him go to his Dads, and change the locks. What a jerk!

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Well for the past 2 weeks he has acted like a jerk he says we have other problems which are stupid and have been a part of our lives forever, 1 was I finish his sentences, I said just say I know the rest of the sentence thanks, I do not even realize I do this. Prior to this crap he has always treated me well taken good care of me and is a great Dad. His affair was a long time ago and we have moved past that but he knows how I feel about his hometown. Just all this has brought it back to the surface for me. His Dad is 82 and dealt with cancer twice last year so I know he would love to see him and he feels he is killing 2 birds with one stone by going there to do his thinking. I feel he is killing our marriage. I really do love him, have since I was 14 can't even envision my life without him, but may not have a choice. I also am a true believer in once shame on you twice shame on me I will not stick around for that.
