It's a beautiful day in not-sunny So. CA!!!

It's so wonderful that we are finally getting rain, and lots of it. Trees, shrubs, rose bushes really need this. I've been worrying about a new magnolia tree we planted and have been watering it all winter. I went out yesterday and fertilized a few things, mostly the rose bushes (40) and camellias. Hope it doesn't all just wash away.

I have 4 buckets set up and two kiddie swimming pools to capture water. I'll try to use it to water potted plants and planters when the rain is gone. Not sure if I can get all the water out of the pools, but it's worth a try.

How about you other Californians? Hope you are all enjoying the rain and no one is in the slide or flooding areas.

So glad you finally have rain., I have been hearing about your drought up here in Canada, we are having another very cold spell again and there is to be let up for another week. So tired of this winter already, need to see some sign of spring soon.

I was happy to see the weather map with nice rain coming AT LAST to you Californians. We've had only a few beautiful, clear days with Trades on Maui this week; haze and vog are back again this morning. Heading home Monday.

Sunnyca I don't know much, but if I were you I would call your DSL provider, mine is Verizon and they help you fix internet service. We bought our computer at Costco and they have a service called Cocierge and they help you with large electronics like computer and TV. This last time she told me that having too many programs starting up at the same time as you log on causes a slowdown. Of course the easiest solution is to turn your computer and DSL box off, my DSL box has a swith on the back; for about 10 minutes and a lot of the problems fix themselves Another tip my son taught me he is computer software business; Do Not Click on Icon for Internet Explorer more than once because you confuse it; he says HI-Lite icon than hit enter on the keyboard! Thanks lass. Annette - glad to hear everything went well, people tell me gallbladder attacks are so painful. Yes, it's nice again today. Mom called this morning to ask my help in decorating the graves at the cemetery but then called back later and said she wasn't feeling well and canceled. I told her I would take the flowers and plant them, but she didn't want me to do that; so we'll try a day next week. So I went and bought three tomato plants and some green pepper plants at the Amish greenhouse. The place was packed with people buying flats of flowers and veggies, taking advantage of nice weather. I haven't decided what annuals to plant in my beds and containers yet, by the time I do all the nice ones will be gone. Normally I wait until after Memorial Day anyway. I think I will make a pot of tea around 2:30p, first I'll plant the tom and peppers and maybe a couple new perennials I bought yesterday.

I might have used glass paint. It would stay on better but since lightbulb you won't be moving it around much.There is a green crease(indent lines pumpkins have) line,you can just see it to the left of mouth about 1/2 in out. It is same distance out on other side too. Water down same green you used for leaves just a bit. I was loseing light by time i took the pic yesterday. Anyway be sure to go around the bulb & put about 6 lines going from about 1/2 in. from bottom of bulb to little below the leaves. It just gives it the "right" look. Have fun!! Jan

My daughter brought the two grandsons down for a 3 day last hurrah visit before school starts. They are 3 1/2 and 6 1/2. The 6 year old starts 1st grade next Tuesday. They were so happy when they arrived to find a tree that was being cut down and turned into firewood in the back yard. The older one just loves playing with sticks. They rolled the large logs around to construct a "truck" and had a delightful time till the workers returned that afternoon. They left today, and it is nice and quiet. My daughter is a cheerful, patient, lovely mother. Her boys are happy and well behaved. The younger one will start preschool in a month. The older one impresses me with the reading skills he developed in kindergarten. More reading in first grade and I am guessing lots of adding and subtracting too.

This rain is a God-send. Everything in the yard will start to really pop now. Glad i got my bulbs in before it started!

I've been enjoying watching the pouring showers all morning. It's great but it's starting to flood in my front yard and backyard!

The rain up here in Monterey is wonderful, but I'm not so thrilled with the wind. The dogs got new Red Barn stuffed bones and are in their kennels, so they are happy, too. I am going to put off my errands today, and sit home with another cup of coffee.

Yeah for the rain!!! They're talking about the Chumash doing another rain dance sometime tomorrow - they better take their umbrellas!!! lol We've had 2 inches since Wednesday!!! ...and only 1 1/2" from July 2013 'till this month!

I love the rain, but it caused the sump pump in my courtyard to malfunction because there was a bunch of dry gunk in the bottom that's now wet gunk. Another plumber's bill...the third in two weeks...Yikes!

I'm in Nor Cal (SF bay area) and it's lovely to see the rain, but not all the accidents on the roads. Temps are very mild, in fact I have the doors open. The Sierras are getting a good dusting of snow as well.

Hope it adds a few drops to those 1/4 full reseviors. Weather, in one form or another, has screwed everywhere this year.

I subbed for a K-1 today and let me tell you, there's nothing like a school day with inside "recess." They were pretty squirrely, for sure. My plants and grass will be happy, though!

I remember when the Chumash tribe did a rain dance in Paso Robles not too long ago....and we got rain! For the first time in quite a while.
Keep up the rain dances.
We have really been enjoying the rain and hope it continues throughout the weekend.
Our reservoirs are really low and water is being rationed in several cities in our county.

Carol, there is another rain dance at Lake San Antonio today at 3:30 to thank the gods for the rain we did get - No Farmer's Market for me in Paso today - no one is complaining though...
