I am a big fan of natural, open and uncovered when possible. I don't like window coverings of any kind so I'd take the verticle blinds off the DR window.

1. The two matching Chandeliers are going, but will it look odd if I put a Chandelier in the dining area only and then go with a foyer light over the door?

No, and if it does you can always fix it.

2. What kind of window treatment for the window (dont need it for privacy).

NONE at all, I would let those windows stay uncovered, I like them very much. Broken record?!? LOL

3. What to put up in the alcove, My son painted the whole room in SW Believable Buff but left that alone because I plan on painting it an accent color.

Do you have a collection you could scatter in there? I love that alcove, I would put pictures, ir pottery, or grandmas glass treasures, or some such collection of stuff.

4a. Should I hang a larger mirror or is the one up there ok?

I think the mirror is okay just like it is, no sconces necessary.

4b. I have a lrg leaning mirror that can be hung on the wall or I can get sconces to hang on each side of the one thats up there.

Have you tried the mirror to see what it looks like? I'd at least check it out and see what it looks like.

It's a lovely room! I agree with the panels on the lower windows only.

Your dining chandelier should be lowered to 30" above the table -- in other words. 5' off the floor -- unless your ceiling is really high, in which case you could go to 36"/5 1/2'.

My first thought too, lower the chandy in the dining room. Once you do that the temptation for them to be the same will be gone. The room needs some texture and color i.e. cloth. If not curtains (the most obvious choice) then more upholstery and or a rug. I would hang panels on either side of the window bottom only, fill the wall with fabric, not obstructing the view if you don't need the privacy. If you hang them in front of the verticals they will disappear and can be used only when absolutely needed, possibly at night to fill in the black hole.

Chibimimi.....The ceiling is 15 ft high, not sure if thats considered high as my last house they were 10 ft.
I am planning on changing out the chairs or at least two with skirted parsons and add a rug. My style is vintage Italian. I have a small collection of florentine trays but I dont think they are big enough to display in the alcove. I love gold and black.

Vintage italian? In that case, there is only one thing that will go in the plant shelf/alcove....Oversize olive oil jars in the greens and yellows from the Mediterranean (Italy, Spain, France, Greece). :) See the link.

I would not put a collection of stuff up there as a vignette. It always sounds like a good idea and every one I've ever seen ends up looking like a display window for Kirklands. If you have several of one thing (like pottery) that is big enough not to get lost, you might try that. Otherwise I would paint it the same color , put some dramatic uplighting in the alcove, and not try to decorate it.

Agree with lowering the chandelier and using a different light at the front door. You could always use that second chandelier in the livingroom if you don't need the fan for air circulation.

Lower the mirror too. It's mounted too high. The highest it should be would have the bottom match the bottom of the niche. It could go even lower as it's main viewing point is from being seated. It's also a little lonely on that big wall. Maybe one of your trays mounted to either side of the mirror? If they are not large enough, then you want a pic that's at least half of the size of the mirror for each side, or 4 that are 1/4 sized to be mounted one above the other on each side.

I would suggest an older stained glass window hung from chains to cover the transom. Or take a stained glass class yourself and make a hanging. It's easier than you think and the ability to personalize your home is a great bonus. Then a larger and much wider rustic curtain rod with fabric panels in a tone on tone or texture like leaves or a stripe that are hung at the window sides, leaving the window glass completely uncovered.

For your niche, maybe another choice piece of stained glass backlit by a lamp. Or just a single large piece of pottery that is well lit from either a spotlight or shelf lighting.
