I love all the discussion in this thread! Special kudos to jeffcat for his fragrance efforts and so diligently reporting his findings back to all of us! :) It is so true that all of our noses interpret scent differently. I guess "citrusy damask" is what I think of Double Delight, but with a special added something that I think everyone in this thread is trying to put their finger on: sharp top note? chemical? peach? clove? ______? I actually do agree with hoov who described the unique element of Double Delight as chemical, yet pleasant. I would never have thought of it that way, but I read that and immediately thought yes! weird! I get that too! But I would never describe Double Delight's fragrance as like peach or clove. (I don't have any rose I'd consider peach scented. I have Lady Hillingdon, in which I definitely detect apricot fragrance and I actually detect that same scent in Apricot Beauty tulips, but it is maddeningly faint.) kstrong, interesting I have read descriptions of Double Delight having a "spicy" fragrance, but I don't get that clove element from DD at all. I have Secret Garden Musk Climber and love it (For others reading, it is not in fact "musky" at all, but pure clove scent. Yummy!!!) jeffcat, maybe an interesting connection here. I have several red roses that go through a distinct clove element phase that doesn't predominate overall, but is just there at certain later stages of bloom. (I'm thinking of Gloire de Hollande and Royal William at the moment but I know there are others.) I'm wondering if in mentioning Crimson Glory and Liebeszauber you're picking up the spicy/clove element that others are getting from Double Delight...? I don't remember the scents of Garden Party, Charlotte Armstrong or Summer Fashion-I clearly need to get sniffing! I do also love the fragrance of Pope John Paul, very intense citrusy damask to me. And yes Secret is another strongly fragrant rose I grow. I don't know how to describe that fragrance except to say that it's strong ;) I wanted to say, too, that fragrance comments posted on roses forum have really influenced me to try roses that would have otherwise escaped my notice. Serenasyh, I have seen varieties of roses several times in public places look/smell like nothing, but trusted some experienced posters here and the roses have turned out to be been real fragrance winners. But I only discovered that once they were growing in my own yard and I could enjoy them at all their stages of bloom. So Lemon Spice is still on my list to buy. :)

Hello again. Thank you very sincerely for all of your good wishes. My brother and wife came down a few days ago and stayed with a retired telephone man who worked as their summer farm helper for several years and has had a trailer in Mesa, then moved to a motel when our brother's daughters arrived yesterday. They all gave me cards this morning as we gathered, plus one from nephew in Edmonton, who'd loved to have been here, for he loves family gatherings, and sister-in-law in Edmonton, as well. I worked in a bar 50 miles west of Edmonton for a few years in the early 80s and enjoyed visiting them ... brother had been killed in a vehicle smash a few years before that, when their young ones were teens. We went out to spend several hours at the Desert Botanical Garden, on the eastern edge of Phoenix ... and saw more varieties of cactus than anyone could conceive of being in existence, I think! Then went to a lovely restaurant in Mesa for dinner, to be joined by (step)sister and her companion, (and I brought home I think the biggest box of food that they had - wasn't sure which was the biggest - the box, or the pot above my belt. Then to sis and companion's trailer for birthday cake with 2 candles, an "8" and an "0" ... which I turned around to read "08", but they turned the cake back half way round. Actually, as most of them were on one end of the table, taking pictures, and I at the other, it did read "08" in my eyes, as I worked on the blowing out. Did someone suggest that a taste of second childhood might be blowing in the wind? dAUGHTER STOOD BESIDE ME, TO HELP WITH THE BLOWING, SHOULD i BE SHORT OF HOT AIR. So .. this smart-ass quickly raised his hands, clapped them over the candles ... and blew only one out - so I had to blow the other out by mouth! After some discussion, and calling some family members who were not present (brother's son in Toronto, recently married) ... we all went back to our lodgings for a well-deserved sleep. So - I guess that I'd better work on my beauty sleep, right? See you all tomorrow - we're going to Sedona, possibly Jerome (again). Will see whether I get re-inflated by an energy-vortex in Sedona. As for relaxing... I'll have 4 hours or so on the plane on Monday ... ... God willing ... and the creek don't rise. Oh, I forgot - they don't have many creeks around here ... well, there are some, but they are dry, most of the time. Actually, some of the cactuses can store over half a ton of water, they say - enough to last them for year or so. Even if I had a bath-tub full ... it wouldn't last me nearly that long. You should be able to get an idea of the weight from a spec sheet. Kohler could also tell you, if all else fails. UPS may have a max weight they can handle (since their delivery drivers couldn't handle a 150 lb item by theselves.) But they might have a deal to package the item and get it to a motor freight company - for a fee, natch!. I'd be surprised if the sink actually weighs as much as 150 lbs, unless it's some kind of vintage behemoth. Modern stuff is usually designed to be shippable. I have several heavy cast iron sinks and none weigh any where near that much. I know because I just shifted my stash around in the barn last month and while some were heavy, none were beyond my strength. And I am a 63 yo female.. The sellers will probably be happy to take it someplace that will see to packing and crating. Then they'd not be liable for any damage claims during transit. Good luck! L..

I frequently make a dill dip, and I add a bit of lemon juice and garlic to it. I bought a small bunch of dill (for $1.00) at the Hollywood Farmers' Market last Sunday, but I used most of it to make a large batch of tartar sauce, which is similar to your dill dip, but it has pickles in it. It is definitely a good idea to use fresh dill (if possible) instead of dried, as it will have more flavor. I planted some dill seeds last week, and they are just now beginning to come up. Have you tried growing dill yourself? I have a lot of parsley in my yard right now - that is also easy to grow. If you add garlic and lemon to your dip, you can use regular salt instead of seasoned salt. I mash the garlic in a mortar & pestle with a bit of Kosher salt to make a paste, and I substitute this for seasoned salt. If you use dried onions instead of fresh (I use chives because I also have those in my yard), you will probably need to thin the dip a bit, but lemon juice will work for that. You might want to add some freshly ground black pepper also. Using cream cheese instead of mayo will also make the dip too thick, but you can use it if you thin it with milk or lemon juice.
