Sunday harvest and pumpkin party
Comments (21)Hi NC I got it now that you are not mad. :) Here is what you do. Buy any kind of winter squash you like. Half you used for soup. The other half you roast at 400 F or in your home 200 C. After you measured what you use for the roll, the leftovers can be used as a mashed potatoes or with rice or pasta. My half pumpkin was cooked for about 1/2 hour. I spray oil at the cut end, and put in foil, cut side down, in the baking sheet till done. This will probably depend on the squash used. The seeds required less time to roast. You are lucky that I have cookbooks of English authors, I have a collection of cookbooks, different kinds. lol Have fun with the roll, I personally don't like tofee, but I liked in this recipe! Comments (10)Hi cactuscatie, welcome to the forum. I saw this in today's Los Angeles times, and it intrigued me. I haven't read it through yet, sorry. Recipe: Muldoon's whiskey-marinated wings January 30, 2008 Total time: 3 hours, Servings: 8 Note: Adapted from Muldoon's Newport Beach. The restaurant recommends Maytag for the blue cheese. This recipe makes slightly more barbecue sauce and dressing than is called for in the final recipe. Barbecue sauce 1 cup chicken broth 1/2 cup orange juice 1 1/4 cups chili sauce 1/2 cup molasses 1 cup ketchup 2 tablespoons soy sauce 2 tablespoons dry mustard Generous 1/4 teaspoon minced garlic 2 dashes Tabasco sauce 1 tablespoon plus 3/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon plus 3/4 teaspoon fresh lemon juice 1 1/2 teaspoons hickory liquid smoke In a large saucepan, combine the chicken broth, orange juice, chili sauce, molasses, ketchup, soy sauce, mustard, garlic, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and liquid smoke and bring to a boil, stirring the bottom of the pan regularly to prevent burning. Reduce the heat to a gentle simmer and cook an additional 45 minutes. Remove from the heat to a nonreactive container and allow to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until needed. This makes 3 1/2 cups sauce and will keep for 2 weeks refrigerated. Blue cheese dressing 1 1/4 cups mayonnaise 5 tablespoons sour cream 1 tablespoon lemon juice 2 drops Worcestershire 2 drops Tabasco 1/4 teaspoon white pepper 2 teaspoons sugar 2 ounces (scant 1/2 cup) blue cheese, crumbled 5 tablespoons celery leaves, minced 3 slender green onions, white part only, minced 1 tablespoon minced chives Combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, Worcestershire, Tabasco, pepper and sugar in a medium bowl. Gently fold in the cheese, celery leaves, green onions and chives. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. This makes 1 3/4 cups dressing and will keep for 1 week refrigerated. Chicken wings and final assembly 1/2 cup Irish whiskey (preferably Bushmills) 2 1/2 cups teriyaki marinade 2 1/2 cups barbecue sauce, divided 1 teaspoon dried oregano 2 pounds chicken drumettes 1 cup blue cheese dressing 1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, mix together the whiskey, teriyaki sauce, 1 cup barbecue sauce and oregano. Place the chicken wings in a large pan and pour the sauce over them. Cook for 2 hours, until the meat is tender and almost falling off the bone. Remove the wings to a foil-lined sheet pan and allow to cool slightly. 2. Brush each of the wings with a little of the remaining barbecue sauce. Place the pan under the broiler just until the sauce begins to char, about 2 minutes. Remove from the broiler and place the wings on a platter with the blue cheese dressing on the side. Serve immediately. Comments (7)Teresa, transportation is an issue with me, but I have a ride for Sunday, should I be able to go to the cast party. Thursday night will be the only other night I'll be able to go. The main issue is I asked about where the cast party will be, and I was told that she wasn't sure, but, the party might be for cast only, however, she wasn't 100% sure. So, there is still a chance I may be able to go. Annie, I agree, but, they've had cast parties without me long before I got there. Brad AKA Moonwolf...See MoreCast Party Treats For Next Week :-)
Comments (6)Here is another recipe that uses a can of cherry pie filling, but you could substitute blackberry: Cherry Cream Crunch Crust: 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1/3 cup brown sugar 1 tsp vanilla 1 cup sifted all purpose flour 1/4 tsp salt 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1 cup flaked or shredded coconut, unsweetened 1 cup granola (or oatmeal or rice flakes*) 1/2 cup chopped raw walnuts - optional Lemon filling: 2 eggs, slightly beaten 1 can (15 oz.) sweetened condensed milk 1 tbsp grated lemon rind 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice 1/8 tsp salt 1 can (20 oz.) of cherry pie filling Crust: Cream butter in a large mixing bowl; gradually add brown sugar and vanilla. Mix well. Sift flour, salt and cinnamon; add to butter mixture. Stir in coconut, granola, and walnuts. Press 2-1/2 cups of crumb mixture into bottom of ungreased 9x13 inch baking dish. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes. Lemon filling: Prepare the lemon filling by combining the slightly beaten eggs, sweetened condensed milk, grated lemon rind, fresh lemon juice and salt. Stir until mixture thickens. Remove crust from the oven and spread with lemon filling. Spoon the cherry pie filling over the lemon filling and then sprinkle with the remaining crumb mixture. Return to oven and bake at 375 degrees 15 to 18 minutes or until delicately browned. Chill before serving. May be served topped with whipped cream. Serves 9 to 12. *If using oatmeal or rice flakes instead of granola, increase brown sugar to 1/2 cup. This recipe is from Cooking with Gourmet Grains from Stone Buhr, published in the mid 1970s in Washington State. I've made it quite a few times.
