Canning Peaches...HELP!

Back in the 70's I canned peaches quite often and always had spectacular results.

Fast forward 30 some years...

I got a crate of Colorado peaches today and decided to can them. YIKES!

Dropped them into boiling water, left them about 4 minutes (BBB says 2 minutes) then followed with a dip in cold water and the darn things just will not peel! I finally got one to peel, although it was not just "slip off the skin", and tried to half it and it just squished into a pulpy mess!

Finally I just peeled them like potatoes and cut chunks off around the seed.

What did I do wrong? I never had problems canning peaches back in the day. Did I just lose my touch?

I have half a crate left to do, but not sure I want to tackle them if this is whatI have to look forward to!
