May I start over?

Cause up till now, this Monday sucks!

I have two appointments later, and thus, thought I go lap swimming at the Y this morning. DRAT, they increased their daily user fee from $5.00 to $10.00!!!

No way will I pay $10.00 to swim about 20 to 25 laps. Sooooo... I left. Drove to the mattress place. Still closed. Looked like it said they open at 10:00 AM. 44 minutes to kill. Double DRAT.

Drive to the other Y, and there is an exercise class going till 10:00, and lap swimming is from 12 to 2, but I would be able to swim at 10, the pool is open for "open swim" from 10 to 11.

30 minutes to kill. CRAP.

Well, I drive over and pick up my axe, that got a new handle installed, and drove back over to the mattress place.

Sit there, and read my owners manual for my new car. Some features that are supposed to work with my key won't, and I can't get them to work.

Triple DRAT!

Now it's after 10, and the store is still not open. I walk up, and realize they are closed on Mondays!!!

Oh crap, can I start today over?

Some days it just doesn't pay to even get out of bed.

History contradicts your belief in soil testing? How does history contradict a belief in soil testing? That sentence is an example of making up something that sounds intelligent but has no basis in fact. Soil testing is an extremely important part of all the crops growing in this country. If we had a better understanding of soil science earlier in the 20th century then the dust bowl probably wouldn't have happened, or at least it wouldn't have been so bad. Turfgrass, like any crop, has its ideal soil conditions. The closer you can get to the ideal, the healthier the grass. How would you know if you need lime? Let's say you need lime, which one would you use? What about a phosphorus deficiency. Most fertilizers have little P, so are you supposed to guess if you have deficiencies? Andy's plan is the right way to do it. Sure you can do a renovation by omitting steps, but if you want the best results you will do it the right way. Rushing it will usually result in doing it again next fall.

I might have used the tumbler just to mix the stuff up and fully incorporate all the diverse ingredients, but I wouldn't have added any water and I would have applied it immediately after mixing. " This is what I was thinking too. This is a collection of fertilizers and already composte materials for the most part. Don't pile it up, your problem is you don't have enough air and it's loaded with nitrogen esp. from the bat guano. The reducing conditions that result are decomposing the gypsum (calcium sulfate) into hydrogen sulfide which smells horrible. OMG you've created a monster! Spread it out to dry and put it on the garden and mix lightly into the surface, is my advice. No heat necessary. Wow!

Curious to hear how your tomatoes are doing now and if you feel the copper spray helped. I just recently noticed brown streaks on some of my stems and a few of the leaves are dying at the margins, too. It's been so darn HOT here I'm hoping it's just the heat and not some horrible disease. Thanks.

I'm with Pixe1: I have been in backsplash limbo for almost eight years if you count the original kitchen I couldn't figure out a backsplash for. We have been in this house for over five years, and completed the kitchen before we moved in....and I just got a backsplash (we grouted today and I Love it)!! I say this not as an ordinary human who would be fine with the four inch formica we all grew up with, but a full on Kitchen Forum TKO who couldn't find just the right thing to pass my own personal Sweeby test. So, even though you COULD move in without a splash, and it wouldn't be a big deal, if you have FOUND your tile you oughta just get it. Or wait a few weeks and see what else is out there, and then if there is nothing you love..Get it. Really. Just get it.

Go home, eat some chocolate (stop and get some if you don't have a big stash at home), take a nap, and start the day much later.

I've heard that if you repeat the words "Do Over" three times, it erases whatever has happened thus far, and it will be clear sailing for the rest of the day.

Poor Moni - I agree with the others - you need a do-over!

And that is quite a rate hike at the Y!!!! Are you able to pay a fee to swim at a local hotel? We used to do that years ago.

I think everyone has a day like that occasionally. Nothing seems to work! Hang in there, tomorrow will be better.

Can't you get a monthly rate at the Y which would work better for you?

When I came to the part of the story where you went and picked up your axe,,,,,,,,I got scared.....really, really scared. LOL

That IS an astronomical amount to swim.

Wow, I like the hotel idea. Never would have thought of that..tannatonk, was it a small local hotel, or a large corporate type hotel? what was the cost approx?

I'm proud of you. I would have used the axe about the time I realized the store was closed on Mondays! (after waiting for the open time)

I would have been "OUT OF CONTROL"!

Well, the ax is safely in my shed!

The tree folks came and planted the tree!

Yeah!

But the leaf blower, which I use to clean the garage... died within a minute of trying to clean out the garage. I had to move both vehicles out after all, so I could use the broom.

I also worked at the cycling event, addressing entry forms.

The day ended OK, but sure sucked to start out with.

I truly appreciated Chemogirls advice and ate a bunch of chocolate. :)

Thanks all for your nice thoughts and comments.

I'll try out some mattresses tomorrow. :)

All the motels here doubled their swim fees this year, from $1 to $2. I can swim any time of the day and usually have the pool and hot tub to myself. It is so nice to swim indoors in the winter when it is cold and snowy outside.
