I love large wall clocks. This is not mine, but thought it was nice.

I posted a link on another thread to a huge "backless" wall clock like one my friend has on her huge wall. I will try to find that thread because I think there was a picture of another clock on someone else's wall--a little smaller and different style.

We have a room set-up very similar to your sister's: kitchen at one end, then table and chairs area, then family room with TV and fireplace. We chose a large round clock so that everyone could see the time--and to combat all the squared edges in the area.

Most of the time mine is on the front of my china cabinet because I don't have wall space available to hang it elsewhere.

There was a monstrous clock on the wall of a home that was profiled in House Beautiful or Traditional Home a while back. It was from an old clock tower. Wish I could find the picture quickly, but perhaps looking through the galleries on the magazine sites would find it?

I love all of these images! We're looking for a clock and have the same concerns. In many of these pictures, you'll notice the clock is not orphaned on a wall, but "connected" visually with things around it, i.e. pictures, tables and accessories. I think that is an important design consideration. Beautiful photos!

Here is our 23" clock in the LR.

Well, I like the way it is incorporated in the room
and is not the focal point. I still don't, personally, like giant wall clocks. That picture, however, to me, is better than most. Maybe it's the topiaries that hide it :)
I don't have a clock in my livingroom/great room/main area
becuase I hate knowing what time it is.

I do not consider a 24" or less clock to be a giant wall clock either.

I don't have a large indoor wall clock. I have a rather hefty, iron Station Clock that hangs outside between the two little, DIY patio areas.
Now that I see all these photos.....I WANT ONE for indoors!
I never thought I had the wall for one but seeing these pics, and seeing how they are incorporated into the decor, I think I could actually squeeze one in on the dining room wall! Or heck, in front of my china hutch!

Well, of course I want a large clock now.....I just saw a post where the large clocks are a bit passe. Just like me to start to love something when everyone else is on to something else.

Funny, we just got a large clock for our bathroom and got it hung over the weekend.

So I came back here to this post to drool at the pics and I see there are even more pics added....THANK YOU so very much!

I sent the first posted pics/links to my Sis but haven't heard back.
Now I'll copy these new pics/link of large wall clocks and send them too and hope she gets inspired.

I did show my Mom all the pics and she was ooohing and ahhhing over each one.
She even asked me why I hadn't thought about a large clock on the dining room wall.

Which means I have to get off the stick and get the dining room walls repatched, base trim reattached, walls touched up.....water pipe burst in wall, didn't do any damage to the bathroom but really did a number in the dining room and I've been dragging my heels with all the repairs..

This is a timely thread because I've been thinking about putting a large clock on an easle on top of the entertainment center. I love the look of large clocks and am a lover of clocks period. Do you all think it would look ok to do that?

I don't have any pictures, but Kirkland's has lots of those really big clocks. They don't have any pics on their website, though; I looked.

I saw this really big clock somewhere online recently, I wish I could remember where it was. It was like those Wallies/Wall Words deals. You stick the numbers directly on the wall (like a vinyl cling), and it had a small box wher I guess the gears and batteries go, and the giant hands are connected to it, and you stick that on the wall in the center. It was really cool, and if it would ahve fit in my house anywhere I would have bought it!

I love clocks and I have been thinking of a large clock for my family room. I have two clocks in my office. I liked both so much that I decided to keep both. I have a clock in the kitchen that I love so much. I have a clock in my master bathroom but it is too small and I keep thinking a bigger one will catch my eye one day.

I love all the photos and all the clocks. In reading the comments, I was wondering whether my clock looks orphaned on the wall, as jan in wisconsin brought up. (Not to sound too needy!)

I had been thinking of putting a very narrow (8") console table below the clock, with some decorative accessories, but I can't find one that is tall enough. Plus I think it might be overload since I already have so much furniture in this room. What do you think?

Just a thought, but is there a chance your sister doesn't want any clock in that spot any more and has another idea in mind that she likes for decorating that wall? I might show her a picture or 2 of large clocks used in a home, but after that I wouldn't pressure her. It is her home to do with as she wishes without feeling she is disappointing you and especially your mother.
