I would move the corner table to the other end of the couch, center the sofa on the wall and put the art above it. Get a coffee table and rug and a sofa table with a lamp behind the smaller sofa, with a smaller picture above it, or the African pieces (can't really see what you mean.. Add a floor lamp, too. Get smaller end table between the couches if you need one, but the coffee table might do. Maybe a small table at the outside end of the small sofa.

The colors you're using look great with your floors. Teal or dark turquoise would be a nice accent color. Be sure you get a large enough rug!

Is there something that keeps you from being able to locate one of the sofas away from a wall? Your pictures look like there is a lot of open space. If you can’t move one of the couches away from the wall, then I agree with Olychick. Move the corner table so you can slide that sofa down. I would get rid of the corner shelf.

I agree, I think, with the suggestions but to make sure I understand, here’s what I would do. Move the corner shelf to another location - it’s lost & serving no purpose stashed in that corner. Slide the loveseat to left as far as possible . The end table is in the way of anyone sitting on right side of loveseat. If there’s room - and there should be with corner shelf gone & loveseat moved to left - slide the end table into the corner so both the lamp & table are useful to people sitting on loveseat & sofa at those ends. Get a coffee table for center - maybe a big square? I’m not sure about the suggestion of putting table & lamp at right end of sofa as the thermostat is there - do you use LED bulbs or will bulb heat skew the temp?

Agree with moving end table into corner and removing shelf. I would also add a more substantial table lamp.

Remove the cabinet out of the corner and place the end table in the corner with a larger lamp. This is space planning 101 This way you will get the sofa properly placed on the wall

Here is your guide for the size of the table lamp. This is the dimension it should reach on your end table.

Then place a canvas on one wall and some 3-dimensional objects on the other. You don't want art on both walls. Too boring and too hard to try and get the pieces to complement each other. Below I have posted items you can use on the wall.

Wow! The ideas and visuals are fantastic. I would never have considered moving the end table down and removing the corner stand or incorporating a round table instead of a square one.

I have included pictures of what I have done so far. Of course, I am open to making changes.

The end table next to the TV is the mate to the one in the first photos. Should I mount the tv on the wall?

Can you include some photos that show the sofas in relation to the rest of the room you’re now showing us? Unless you are holding dances on that open expanse of floor, it would probably look better to get some of the furniture off the wallls and oriented more to fireplace and tv Its all lined up against the walls like little soldiers. I would start with the chair and ottoman. pull them out of the corner away from the window.

@eZgoin The additonal pictures you just posted reveal that this room is entirely different than one imagines from looking at only the view shown in your first two pics! For one thing, it looks like a large room which offers many more options for furniture arrangements. The fireplace dominates one long wall & it looks like TV is on the best wall for it, the next longest wall. Because the wall facing the TV is broken in half by doorway, your seating facing the TV seems limited by what fits on each side of doorway - chair & loveseat. It looks like they are too far away from TV for optimal viewing & the arrangement creates a look of furniture lining the walls - not a welcoming vibe. If you would draw a floorplan of the room showing the wall lengths, doorways, windows & FP placements & widths, I think you'll receive some great furniture arrangement ideas to maximize best placements for enjoyment of your space. My initial thoughts without knowing room dimensions are to center Tv & console on that wall, "float" the sofa facing TV & place it @ where footstool is in relation to fireplace. Place loveseat & chair facing the fireplace - maybe also floating but not sure. Another detail - raise the drapery rod to ceiling or high enough that drapes don’t puddle on floor.

The den is 15 x 18. So, not as large as the pictures make the room look. The sofas are pretty large, too. The den is where my family hangout when they come over. So, I wanted a relaxed feel with a wine theme, hence the wine rack and wall art beside the tv.

I considered hanging a mirror either above the shorter sofa or behind the chair. I hope the information and photos below help.

You're not ready to hang anything yet. First, place the seating and TV. It is not too expensive to have TV connections moved to the best location. Since many of your photos seem to be in pano mode, it is hard to tell which wall that is, so a measured drawing with all doors/windows/fireplace shown and measured will help. For starters, I think TV should go on the shortest wall where it will fit. You want the TV cabinet to cover about 2/3 to 3/4 of that wall space. Wall mount TV on an articulated arm or place it on a swivel base so it can be turned for the best view. That focal point will determine how to place the remaining seating. Last, the tables, decor and a rug will go in the space. Start with a tape measure, and maybe a call to the cable service.

So you have two end tables? Will the end tables fit on either sides of the sofa if you remove the corner shelf?

er612 The second end table may fit under the thermostat. I will rearrange the room according to both designs and see which one I prefer.

er612’s 2nd arrangement is what I was going to suggest, too. It looks way more inviting.

Another suggestion would be to add in another color to break up the throw pillows. I know there are different patterns but since the colors are so similar, they can easily look like one continuous pattern across your couch.

Here's a layout that should work for your room. Place the TV on the diagonal in the corner. The green lines indicate where you can place art on the walls.

Repaint the brick around the fireplace. The orange is just not attractive in this room.

I considered everyone's ideas and suggestions and decided to rearrange the room as such, which looks much better. The pictures make the room look cluttered, but it is not. There is still so much space. My daughter was in awe when she first saw it.

I still need to raise the curtains, purchase a neutral color rug, wall art, pillows, lamps, and plants and play around with the other items in the room before it is complete. Despite it not being finished, I am delighted with the new layout. It is warmer, cozier, and inviting.

Let me know what you think. Good, bad, and ugly. I am not a decorator, so I am always open to constructive criticism.

@eZgoin So good! Agree that your room looks much cozier & invites one to sit awhile and visit. I think you used one of @er612 suggested arrangements. I like that you plan to raise curtains - just lifting them off the floor will make those corners look & feel more open. Looks like you added a larger lamp or a larger shade for lamp to table in corner - it looks good & better sized for furniture..

Hi. Sorry I missed your update. Did you switch the sofa and loveseat? Visually, I think the sofa works better on the longer wall but functionally, if the new arrangement works for you that's all that matters. I moved the loveseat out from the wall on the layout below.

@er612 & @eZgoin It looks to me like ’sofa’ & ’loveseat’ pieces are actually the same size -so 2 of same? And it looks like piece on doorway wall is pulled away from wall. In pic there’s a person standing behind it & that metal decor piece in corner seems to have space in front of it.
