No cooking here either. We're going to a restaurant with Joe's brother & his wife, no idea what restaurant, somewhere downtown, and no idea what I'll order.

I was raised in a small town where are lawn was, mowed down weeds. I remember picking pears and raspberries when I was a child. That was the extent of growing things when I was young. I don't remember anyone on my street having nice yards. There were a few neighbors that grew veggie gardens. I didn't really get into gardening until 2007 when I got a regular route at my job. I saw the same yards every day. I started to notice the different flowers as they grew. The only flower I knew the name to, at this point was a petunia and a tulip. I started looking at flower websites. Then the orders were submitted. But I couldnt wait for the order to arrive. So another order was submitted. I started researching the plants that I liked. If the customers were outside, I would ask them the names of the plants so that I could look them up. Somewhere in that research time I found this site. I read many different forums for a few months before I registered. I have since, been reading the forums here at GW everyday for hours. I have found out that my sister in Colorado is also interested in gardening, although not as obsessed as I am. My brother is also interested in gardening, which was a huge surprise to me. We didnÂt grow up with gardening, but 3 of us have taken on this wonderful hobby. Last year was the first year I grew anything from seed. We had a very prosperous veggie garden learned that I donÂt need three zucchini plants. Most of my winter sown seeds got turned over from my dogs last year. So I didnÂt get as many flowers as I would have liked. This year IÂve put the containers on a table, and already have some sprouts. I can see that it is going to be a much better year.

Tikanis here reporting from So. Cal where it is slightly overcast and cool this morning : ) This has been a great week. My DS has found a way to computerize ALL of my paperwork and if accepted by the agencies I contract with, will save me HOURS and HOURS each and every week! I am so excited that I can hardly stand it! Today was my check in and I am now just under 16 lbs from my goal! I have added biking to my work out, something that I really enjoy, so it won't be long now... I am preparing a few meals today for a church member who just had surgery. This afternoon DS and I are doing a bit of shopping and getting our nails done. Tonight I have my first "Date" since the wheel was invented ha ha! That's right, I am going to see if there is life out there after 5 years of widowhood. I am scared to death. Please send good thought. I need them. : ) Tikanis

Good afternoon, y'all! I've been up and out since 9 this morning for our sorority. A friend and I drove over to Kemah/beach area to the Hilton where our sorority was having an Arts & Crafts day and board meetings. We just went to sell ESA aprons that one member made. We sold a lot of them, and we shopped a LOT! Every chapter had at least one table and sold handmade items from small bags of snacks to fruit cakes, quilts, painted items and lots of Christmas gift items. I bought decorated gift baskets to hold my homemade fudge for neighbor gifts this year, goodies to include in my WV friend's Christmas box, and soup mixes, jellies, pickles, and chili mixes to include in stockings. One chapter was selling paperback and hardcover mysteries, and I really stocked up there! Once I read everything, I'll donate the books for our community Expo in January where we (ESA) have a table and pass out literature about St. Jude hospital and try to earn $$$ to send to them. We sell the books for 50 cents each, and last year we were able to mail St. Jude a check for $33.50! Viki and I stopped on the way to the event at a Tuesday Morning store and had a blast mostly just lookingm too. Once I rest a bit, I have to fix my corn casserole to take for the covered-dish luncheon at church tomorrow. I love that stuff, but it's terribly fattening, so I'll just make a very small dish of it for us and the rest for tomorrow. Tikanis, I like how you emphasized 'considering'! Happy puttering to you! Raeanne, you get to attend some neat sounding parties. Things aren't quite that upscale around here, but that's alright. It is what it is, right? Suzanne, that video was a hoot! Thanks for posting it. Glad you finally spotted your fox! The dr. told hubby to continue eating red meat because his hemoglobin count has dropped some, so we're having grilled steak and baked sweet potato (me) and red potatoes (hubby) and salad for dinner. I'm already hungry as lunch at the event wasn't all that exciting or filling. Once he gets that grilled fired up, I'll be ready to eat! Wishing everyone a relaxing Saturday evening!

DH just asked the same question! My answer, the usual one,was "I have no idea"! I have nothing thawed out,as usual.LOL I have a couple of small round roasts in the freezer that I bought on sale in NM.Think I may put them in a sink full of cold water and thaw them, then cut off some steaks, beat the heck out of them and make chicken fried steak.Today is DH's birthday and he is feeling a little down because only one of the kids has called him to wish him happy Birthday so far.Chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes are his favorite meal and I haven't made them in a long time,so I think that's the menu! May be 8 o'clock before we eat but I guess that's OK too. By the way,why is it men get so bent out of shape when "everyone" doesn't wish them a happy birthday? I have to remind HIM when it's mine then it doesn't mean anything that he says it.LOL

DH went to Marianas Mexican Supermarket and got marinated carne asada meat yesterday after bringing me home from my surgery. Tonight he and DS are going to grill it, then make tortas for DS and paninis for me, MomBondo and MIL. Yum...I can't wait.

We're grillin'. Large portabello mushrooms stuffed with a mix of mozzarella, tomato, garlic, basil and olive oil. Also making a sweet onion packet--sliced onions, olive oil, S&P and a little hot sauce wrapped in foil and grilled. Hamburger patties--no buns.

Supposed to get cold again tonight and storm so trying to enjoy the warmth while we can.

I just boiled some chicken. I think I am going to make some spanish rice and put the chicken in it, like my mother's friend used to do. Just me at home, so it is easier to eat out, but I live so far from town, that once I leave home, the day is shot. Plus, I need to eat some of the stuff that is in the freezer....so every day, I reach in and grab something...and today it was chicken.

I have no idea. I'm home alone today. Alex went to his dad's for the first time in 2-3? years. It's his birthday, not sure if that's why he decided all of a sudden to go see him or not. Not sure if he will be back later or not either. They were going to see a movie but that's all I know. Lot of crap going on with the ex and his new family, just hope it doesn't mess this visit up with Alex.

Lauren went with her friends for a birthday party snow tubing in Indiana today.

Just don't know what to do...should I go out, get fast food, or make something here? Still in my pjs so I at least need to go shower.

I'm not sure about tonight..but last nights was sure good.

I found a recipe by Margene on the Meeting House forum..for Spicy Chicken patties...Oh boy was it good...

Had a hard time making it because we looked high and low for my little food processor...it was no where to be found...so I "chopped" the raw chicken breasts.
It was so good when Denny came home this morning..he had bought me a new food processor....yeehaw...

We had creamy mac and cheese and fresh asparagus with it.

Spicy Chicken Patties

1 cup bread crumbs...
1 pound chicken (skinless boneless breasts) processed
1/4 cup chopped chives (I used dry)
3 Tablespoons Mayonnaise
1 teaspoon cajun seasoning (next time I'll use a bit more)
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs

Make into patties, cook in oil
it said 7 mins on each side or until done

Sauce

2 Tablespoons Mayonnaise
2 teaspoons horseradish
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1/8 teaspoon salt

(I doubled. Next time will use more horseradish
and I used a little bit of prepared mustard)

serve sause over meat.

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did...

DH and I are meeting some friends of mine (two other couples) at Hu Hot Mongolian Grill. Haven't tried that place yet; it's pretty new here.

Have a good evening, all.

Ohhhh I wana eat with SadieSadie....I love that place...

You have to choose your own combination of sauce...

When we first went they told us if we didn't like what we chose to just go get more and try a different combination...

I loved the one I tried right off the bat and have stuck with it...

If all the Hu Hot are the same I choose the second on the bottom row(three dips) the wine (2 dips)(I think it is the second on the bottom row in the second grouping) and the sesame seed oil 1 or two dips....

I can taste it now....

I just got back from Taco Bell, got a nachos bellgrande. They just don't make them like they used to. I don't quite know what's missing but I went and added some green onions of my own.

It's hailing/sleeting and nasty out there right now. Already one accident I passed on the way home. I dread having to go to work in the morning.

We pulled some chili out of the freezer (that I made a couple of months ago) and served it in bread bowls. Pretty tasty! We had the even lazier night yesterday, KYC, which I hadn't had in at least 3-4 years so that was a bit of a treat.

I got some large shrimp on sale and we were going to grill, but it was chilly.
I butterflied them and marinated them in fresh ginger, garlic, pepper and a little lite soy, then I put them on the a really hot griddle. They seared on the outside but were still really moist on the inside - fine if I do say so!
