Favorite kitchen/dining photo--anyone recognize?

I saved this photo a while back and now I can't remember where from. I love everything in this room and was going to look up some of the resources if I can find where it came from. Does anyone recognize it?

Nobody recognizes it? I thought maybe it was from here, but it may have been from a blog. Looks like it was taken for a magazine but not sure which one--uggh! I try to add a little description to my saved photos so I can look them up, but not this one, for some reason I guess I THought I would remember!:)

That's an inspiration pic that kateskouros posted when she was looking at lighting for her kitchen. I don't know where it came from, but it's one of my favorites too.

Aputernut what are the origins of your kings? They are magnificent!! DH and I took a trip to Bronner's this fall. #1 on my bucket list was a visit!! I am sooo embarrassed and feel so STUPID. I was not interested in the video of the history as I knew it and saw much on Youtube, so avoided the "Program room". I did peak in at one point and it was dark as a show was going on...The next day, an hour outside of Frankenmuth I began reading their literature. To my GREAT frustration I discovered in that dark room are cases of 150+ nativities from 50+ different countries!! I have been begging and the Bronner's Facebook page has begun posting pictures of some of them. Unfortunately they do not post as many Creche sets as they do ornaments. But they are not for sale--they are a private collection so I get it. ANYWAY I added a camel and cow to my outdoor set..and I am scouring ebay for a few more shepherds..there are some older characters out there I would love to get my hands on!! We also went to one large spot light. DH is very into cutting our wattage use DOWN. I have a star hanging on the back of the light pole, and we have enough snow to cover the blue extension cord so it is all very nice IMHO

DLM - are you talking about "liming"? That is popular here in the south and I'm assuming it's the same or similar to white-washing. Stinky - I feel the same. I'd feel lost in a house that size LOL. Nor do I want to clean or heat/cool it! But, it's only the two of us (no children), and we have very few overnight guests. We don't have plans to down-size, but no up-sizing either. We built our home 13 years ago with the future in mind - such as - NO STEPS. LOL PPS - I love your home. I enjoyed watching your build on the building forum. I'm glad there are others here who enjoy that board. We're not building, have no plans of building again, but I usually try to look at that board once a month (when I remember!) to see the updates on new builds. I like looking at houses! LOL tina

NewDawn, I hadn't thought of that in years! But I do remember now that the trading ships were bringing back many beautiful pieces from China at that time. William Morris produced some beautiful Asian-influenced wallpaper around that then, too. As I recall from my design studies (way back when), it was very popular. Joann, thanks! Yes, he's a sweet boy that will surely look good wherever he ends up in here. Nicole: (LOL!) I went right out to check which direction the fish was facing . . . towards the French doors that open into our family room in the middle of our home, so I'm thinking that's a safe bet. All this talk of decay and decadence brings me back to this project, which is to humanize a living space that's proportioned, except for the average sized kitchen, along palatial lines, while leaving the open concept open. It's interesting that with all this marketing of the raw, this former industrial space is pretty polished. The concrete is clean and smooth (not really anything like Palimpsest's favorite Brutalism), the metals (trusses, stairs, catwalks, ducts, window frames) are smooth and painted an appealing white with a green cast, and are in great shape and don't need to be redone. These may be industrial relics, but very civilizedly so. The decadent part is the size of the space, especially for one person who is barely beyond being a "girl". Most urbanites would be comfy (well...cramped but content) in something the size of the mezzanine. Without the upper bits, it's basically a two bedroom, two bathroom, open concept apartment with a dining area, living area and kitchen. On steroids. Big time. :) The owner is confused by our discussion, as I've relayed some of the more interesting bits, but it's helped us focus on how to make the living room functional for more than cocktail parties. She doesn't want to divide the space, which would suck all the grandeur out of it, and she doesn't want conversation groups. Palimpsest's digital living gave me an idea which I thought was silly, but might be a go, for a central tower for media, rather than putting it against a wall. This must have been done before--it doesn't feel particularly original--but I think it would work. We talked about making it out of wood and hiding all the blackness of the equipment, but it would be awfully big and block the view. More honest and practical would be to have a central service column with all the cables and juice, and put lots of screens on swing arms, as well as media players and the like. Perhaps have smaller screens facing into the catwalks. It would sort of be an inside out control console crossed with the monolith from 2001. Or it could, I suppose, be made of of brass steam fittings and go all steampunk. :) Becky, I totally forgot about that place!! Thanks for linking it. I think its the Navajos who don't tear down old structures but let the earth reclaim them naturally. Seeing it done on a castle scale is offputting, however, to put it mildly. I used to know someone who had owned and lived in a castle--the real ancient fortress kind--for many years. It really sounds dreadfully uncomfortable, and one imagines that they do best as amusements for tourists.

I didn't know where it came from either, but just wanted to comment that I think it's stunning!

I love the fixtures, the built-in hutch and the entire wall behind the stove.(looks like luminous tiling)

Oh, to have a kitchen like that:)

not very much info, but they seem to credit Kohler Design Center for the photo. A search of that site did not reveal the photo, but her photo tag was dated 8/12/08 so that may be the reason?
I remember someone in the Kitchen forum posting that picture before looking for info on the lights, but that too was a long time ago.
I'm sorry, none of this is probably very much help.

Not sure if this helps but this is one of three designed for the Traditional Home 2007 Built for Women III Showhouse in Woodstock, Georgia and seems to have the same 'feel'.

You can find other photos here at the Kohler site and maybe yours will come up with some diligence.

So the photo is from a home in Palmetto Buff, South Carolina used as a vacation home. The Photo is owned by us.Kohler.com and they may have more that they did not put up. You could contact them to see what they say. Or maybe a local historical society in Palmetto Buff or something.

Palmetto Bluff is a new planned development property located directly across the river from our house. It's only been there a few years, so definitely no "local historical society" available to help you with this.

Thank you all so much!! And a special thank you to dilly dally--I was so excited to see even more photos of that gorgeous room! Now I have another great site to visit--I had never been to the Kohler site before but, WOW--love it! So, I was trying to figure out, is this "Kohler" as in kitchen and bathroom fixtures "Kohler"?

And Katiee511, I have a feeling that may be where I saved the photo from was decorpad.

Anyway, you guys are probably right in that I probably won't have much luck finding out any information on anything in the room. I do see I already have the same faucet though--it's a start.:) Any guesses on what blue/grey paint color the cabinet in the dining room is?

Here are the owners of the building mentioned here:

"The Inn at Palmetto Bluff is built next to the site of the once opulent mansion "Palmetto Lodge." Built in 1911 by Richard Wilson Jr., the family entertained socialites in grand style from New York, Savannah and Charleston in the ballroom. The mansion burned in 1926 and Richard never returned to the property. Today, the imposing columns still stand as a reminder that nostalgia and nature exudes romance. Crescent Resources, LLC, acquired Palmetto Bluff in June 2000. Palmetto Bluff Village opened last September, and The Inn & Spa at Palmetto Bluff October 30, 2004."

I've been awestruck by the beauty of Palmetto Bluff. It certainly was a well planned out community.
