Comments (40)For sinus sufferers, there was a bit on NPR about lactobacillus sakei and sinus infections...seems to be a strong connection to the good bacteria fighting off the sinus infections. Only thing is, it hasn't been studied yet in humans, but thought I'd mention that there has been some early signs of success with it. Also GF suffers with allergies and she has found that taking OTC antihistamine before or as her allergies begin really helps to control the situation as it keeps it from getting worse and setting up vicious cycles of misery. Though I have no first hand experience, I hope this helps.... what causes sinus infections Acutally this whole human biome business is just beginning to get hot and scientists are just beginning to understand that we shouldn't think of the body as a pristene place with viral and bacterial invaders that need to be wiped out....rather we need to think of the body as a garden where we want to grow the good bacteria so it can keep the bad stuff in check....fascinating stuff. Comments (9)Congrats! We have a new one baby coming in 2010 also! It is still very early for our DD...but they couldn't keep it a secret! LOL We are Nana & Papa! When the girls got bunnies years ago, they said we were grandpa and grandma....nope, don't like that so we went with Nana & Papa! Only prob, the other grandmother is called Nana also...and long before the kids met. :/ Oh well, they will figure it out quick! DH has a VHS to DVD gadget that he bought last winter. He has all of our old tapes now on DVD and we sent many to the neighborhood kids...that now have their own kids...from years ago when there were 15 kids in our neighborhood! Great fun, then and now! We haven't had our family Christmas yet, until the 9th then we will have all the kids together....to me, that is the best gift of all!!...See MorePlaying Doctor (No, not Nursery Games)
Comments (6)Thanks to you all. I neglected to say that my MD did run a blood panel and took an EKG, and I did a stress echo test -- all 'normal'. My own 'diagnosis' is stress -- delayed stress after DH had some health problems the first half of this year. Now that he's better, my body thinks it can rebel! I will ask my MD about the test for thyroid antibodies and a referal to a cardiologist. I feel obligated to follow through with the monitor he prescribed though. Seems odd to be hoping for *something* to record! LOL I've only had three tiny, 'maybe' episodes to send in over two weeks. That's not much evidence of *anything*! Over the last few years, I've had possibly ten episodes where I feel a sudden light-headedness, a sort of 'whoops' feeling, but it's gone in a flash. I recall having them while seated -- reading or driving. Six weeks ago DH and I started doing exercises using the Wii Fit Plus. I can feel my heart rate go up, but have no trouble doing these things for 30 mins. and feel fine afterwards. Thanks for listening. I'm just puzzled!...See More"Breaking up" with doctor....
Comments (26)When my son was just under a year old my husband's job changed Insurance and my current provider was no longer in their system. I told my Doc this would be my son's last "well baby" check up with her...she appreciated the news and went through my son's records one more time just to be sure she had all her i's dotted and T's crossed. My son has a mole near his eye brow. It appeared at about two months of age. She felt the need to discuss it. I guess moles at birth can be cancerous most often. She didn't want the new doctor to be the one who is concerned and telling me that. I have always preferred the model of "family practice" where the doc is dealing with the entire family. I think it gives them a full view and more likely to catch/notice possible issues....See More- 18 years ago
