Stepdaughters' lies and blaming stepmom
Comments (22)Hi all, I'm new. I just want to say that many of the issues you mention really aren't YOUR issues. Things like her fraudulant lawsuits for example. I have an ex who's always frauding someone...but it's not my problem. The system will catch up and when it does, they'll have to pay somehow. You need to focus on dealing with the children when they're in your care, and disregard what they do in her care, unless they're in danger. You seem to have stopped the spanking but maybe you should make their Dad handle all the discipline. You could even try a "wait until your father gets home" stance when they are in your care and your husband is away. Once you stop engaging with them, they will stop engaging with you. You've only been married two years, so you have a long road ahead. Your nit-picky issues are just that, little nit-picky issues. I'd blow them off and laugh it off as a jealous bio-mom...those do exists sometimes. You know YOU and those around you know YOU...don't waste your time focusing on what she says or does. Keep documenting everything and always anticipate the worst, but hope for the best. If the relationship with the girls is broken, I'd really try mending it. If you're interested in some ways, let me know, maybe we can get creative. If you plan to stay married, you really need to get along with his kids, they don't go away after they turn 18, only the CS....See MoreAAA This is your life
Comments (23)You rock, Audrey! Great, great vent. You know what you have to do and you sound like the gal who can do it. Same age, same financial situation, although, I still have a DH. I'm either in the middle of it, on the cusp or ending where you've been. It's kind of mind boggling, huh? Difference, I have a crazy DIL, out of rehab for the 3rd or 4th time, I forget. All I do is care about what happens to my GD, step in where needed, kick the butt that needs kicking and then step back. I keep a watchful eye on my GD.... I understand where you're coming from and the price you've paid. I could have been you 'cept I'm meaner than you are. Hang tough and take care of you. Always, since about 9 yo, my motto in life has been, "Don't mess with my family, don't mess with my friends and don't mess with my dog." (I think I had a different word for "mess") It's served me well. Don't let her mess with you. You have it in you. Let me know if I can help in any way....See MoreThinking of breaking up with hairdresser- a spinoff
Comments (20)We have a tendency to overthink things. At my last salon where I had one person for color and one for cut, I had an issue with the color. Even my husband noticed that something was off. I called immediately and went back the next day. My colorist was on vacation and I had to see someone else. This new person fixed the problem and I decided to use her going forward. I spoke to her about my discomfort in switching at the salon. She said not to feel that way because they all work together and things like this happen, they are professionals and nobody holds a grudge. The next time I was in the salon my original colorist came over to say hello and to thank me for a referral about colleges for her daughter that I had shared with her. So, there were no hard feelings. Funky, I don't think a stylist would intentionally want to lose a client, but maybe they just don't feel they have to work as hard to impress a long standing client?...See MoreNeed help doctoring up a tasteless hashbrown/egg casserole
Comments (30)Success!! At least, success enough to enjoy the re-imagined casserole. I cobbled together a lot of the suggestions and not only came up with something edible but something tasty too. I crumbled up the remaining casserole and added 4 thinly sliced green onions and one finely chopped fresh jalapeño. Then I fried the crumble combo in light olive oil just like I’d fix hash. Five minutes of frying to get a crust on the bottom, then turn over to crust up the other side. I did that four times, and by the time I was done, the casserole was filled with crusty brown bits. I sprinkled a combo of pepper jack cheese and sharp cheddar on top. Served it to my husband with some fresh salsa. I liked it and so did he. There are leftovers because the original casserole was baked in a 9 x 13 pan. Tomorrow I will heat up the mixture and stuff a spinach tortilla with it. My husband loves anything that resembles a burrito. Linda, I wondered about baking the hash browns before adding the egg filling. That might help with my texture problem. I used to make potato kugel all the time and loved the stuff, so I thought I’d love this sort of casserole. Weird! Thanks everyone for your input. As a result, I didn’t feel compelled to toss it and waste any food....See MoreElizabeth
